“Well i dont think i will ever be in a need to stay here again”

Britannia Hotel Newcastle Airport

We have just returned from Newcastle and 3 of us all lads stayed over there had been a Sunderland AFC game the day before, why I booked this hotel was because we were on a 0755 flight this morning and needed some where close to the airport.

This is the first good thing about the hotel it’s a very short walk to the departures lounge.

The second is the staff they are fab very very nice all of them.

However this is where I get off lol the rooms are small and very old décor the beds are lumpy with One (the smallest I have ever seen) pillow I could not justify getting into the shower as I may have come out dirty.

We had a meal as we did not want to go back into Newcastle this was the worst idea the meal was just all wrong, I had a grill and some came out under cooked, some over cooked and the rest was like rubber.

No sky sports at all in this hotel.

I did not like it even though it was only 95 pounds for the 3 of us.

If you have to stay here do, but not more than one night and Don’t eat in it.

Good Luck

“Adequte for overnight stay”

Britannia Hotel Newcastle Airport

21 Oct 2007

We booked a park and stay package because we had a late flight back to Newcastle. The extra cost to stay overnight is not much more than the cost of parking the car for a fortnight. The room was very small and basic but it was clean and comfortable. We checked in at about 1am and check in was very quick and efficient. The hotel runs a courtesy bus to the airport but we walked. It is probably quicker.
Finding a parking space was quite difficult but other than that we had no problems with our car. For an overnight stay either before or after your holiday this hotel is fine but I wouldn't want to stay longer.

I stayed here for one night in advance of an early meeting the next day outside of Newcastle. I arrived and met a lovely girl at reception who sorted out my room key and bill in about 120 seconds.
My room was quite warm when I walked in due to the radiator piping. I opened the window and that improved things.
The room itself was very nice. I had a generous selection of tea/coffees, a very big remote controlled tv. The bathroom was nice, lots of towels, toilet paper, shampoos, etc. Everything was very clean throughout. The carpet had a few marks, but since I was on a one-night stay I didn't mind too much.
My bed was very comfortable, with lovely comfortable duvets, pillows. I have stayed in lots of places, and I was genuinely impressed by my room.
Before going to bed I returned to reception and met the same girl who gave me very useful, friendly advice about the metro, etc.

I didn't eat here, just had a drink in the bar where the bar staff were very friendly.

OK - I would not stay at this hotel for a long holiday (it's an airport hotel obviously!). For me it was perfect for my one night stay sleep over and I wouldn't hesitate to stay again.

“Standard "Smoking" Double”

We booked this hotel directly with the Britannia Website and upon arrival in the dark!! the hotel seemed fine and the reception staff pleasant and helpful. However upon arrival at our room, we discovered we had been given a smoking room. We immediately returned downstairs to reception and advised them that we could not sleep in a room which smelt like the inside of an ashtray to be told that we should have requested a non smoking room. This appears to be an attitude of the dark era, I was not aware that hotels even offered smoking rooms in this day and age. With an early morning flight and nowhere else to go we decided to have a few drinks in the bar and hopefully pass out so we were unaware of the room aroma. To add insult to injury there was absolutely NO ventilation in the room and due to being close to the airport the window did not open. DO NOT STAY HERE UNLESS YOU SMOKE!!!

Impossible to park your car safely, never seen so many cars crammed into every little space available, amazed my car was undamaged on return. Hotel has a good location which is the only good thing that can said for it. Desperately in need of renovation and has been for about 20years by the looks of it. Tiny rooms also last decorated in the early 1980's. Very expensive for a 1star hotel and thats being generous. Wouldnt stay here again would rather travel through the night than experience another night at this hotel. Avoid at all costs.
