“Tired, dated and not near Newcastle centre”

Holiday Inn Newcastle Upon Tyne

A tired and bleak hotel miles from the city centre. Its only benefit is that it is near the airport. The first room I had had a broken TV and mould in the bathroom as well as off white towels. When moved, the next room was a bit better but still had mould and hairs in the bath.

Quiet enough, breakfast was expensive and should have been included in the exorbitant price for the room though a discount was offered if I paid cash the night before.

Avoid unless really desperate or need to be near the airport. Taxi is £14 to the centre.

The general standard of the rooms/hotel was ok and the staff seemed friendly however as we were only staying there for somewhere to sleep and we had 2 big complaints. Firstly the room was freezing cold and there is only a rather ineffective (and noisy) heating system in the room which took 24hrs to heat up the room to an acceptable tempertaure.
Once warm enough we were kept awake from the noise next door. Now this wasn't the fault of the other guests as they weren't loud or inconsiderate, it was down to a very thin door that separates the rooms in this hotel. A change of room wouldn't have helped as they are all the same. Every word and every movement could be heard which kept us up late and woke us up early in the morning. So if you want a good nights sleep I don't recommend here!

“Good enough hotel - poor bar meals!”

Holiday Inn Seaton Burn Newcastle Upon Tyne is a nice hotel at a fair price (booked via Holiday Inn website). The rooms are nice and the beds are comfortable. We have stayed here before (and will again I am sure) but this was the first time we had ever had a bar meal - just don't do it ! Very poor for a hotel of this standard and will not be repeated under any circumstances. Breakfast was included in the price of our stay and I'm glad to say it was OK.

“Good rooms”

Holiday Inn Newcastle Upon Tyne

Generously sized room with excellent but very noisy air conditioning and a comfortable bed. Didn't try the pool. Arrive at about 7:15pm and asked for a table in the restaurant and were offered 9:30pm. The bar was smokey so the idea of a pre-dinner drink did not appeal.

The meal itself was an acceptable carvery, but the service, whilst friendly was not well organised. Usual Holiday Inn breakfast, which means a decent range of food.

The location is remote in terms of other buildings, but convenient for the A1, so the hotel would make a good base for exploring the area.

Good value at £59 for the room and breakfast.

I have just returned from a 02night stay at this hotel and I can honestly say that I have never experienced such a high level of customer service in a hotel. We enjoyed the cavery on our first evening which was great value for money as the food was hot, fresh and as it was buffet style you could have as much or as little as you wished. The rooms were big the only thing is nowadays you expect all hotels to have a lift which although there were only two floors this hotel I would have expected a lift. There was apple parking and the staff were very helpful in giving us directions to the nearest shopping centre. The gym and weight rooms were small but had everything you would require (having just stayed at a hilton the facilities in the Holiday Inn were superior) and once again the staff on duty were very friendly and helpful. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone.
