“Ok hotel in the middle of nowhere”

OK hotel, similar to the Scandic chain, maybe a bit better. Room had decent size, but with tiny bathroom.

The hotel is placed in a trading estate which is absolutely deserted at night. There are no restaurant on the premises save for a 'bistro' and nothing else except a pub within walking distance, not even a small shop where one could buy a beer or two.

The hotel gets an extra star/blob/what they are for providing free wifi internet connection.

Stayed for a week with my mum. Was a last-minute booking so didn't have much choice on which hotel to pick, but was pleasantly surprised that our choice was an excellent one!

Reception staff are helpful, the room spacious, with 2 big double beds for the 2 of us. And as you've all read, the shower is fantastic! Almost like 1 of those jet whirlpool massage type that takes your aches and pains away, plus there is a little sitting area too! Amazing. A little strange that the 'bathroom' contains only the shower (which is huge) and the toilet plus the towel rack radiators, and the washbasin is just outside i.e. in the room! But didn't bother me at all.

Breakfast was good; only had a meal 1 night in the restaurant. Only thing I'd moan a little about is the food serving times in the restaurant. Since the hotel's situated in a quiet area in Gateshead, you get the peace and quiet as not many hen/stag do's happen (still a couple when I was there!) with parking. But the opening hours of the restaurant could be improved. And room service only goes till 10.30pm which for a hotel, is very bizarre. What happens to those who check in late and are starving?

Overall though it was a pleasant stay. Totally recommendable!

I have just stayed at this hotel for 4 nights and was impressed by the friendliness, cleanliness, hospitality and catering I received during my stay. The rooms were fresh and clean and a pleasure to stay in them. They contained everything fo ra short stay, ironing board and iron, hairdryer, spacious room etc.

Over the years I have had the privilege to stay in many hotels throughout the UK and I can honestly say I have never before encountered a hotel as friendly from the receptionist as we booked in to the cleaning staff, to the catering staff, bar staff et al nothing was too much. All the staff seemed to enjoy the job they were doing and they did it with a smile and a 'hello'.

A short drive into Newcastle and close to the Metro Centre - Would definitely stay again.

“Excellent place to stay”

Tulip Inn Newcastle Gateshead

The Tulip is a new build hotel just off the A1 and on the south side of the Tyne from Newcastle.

They've done a really good job with the place.

Rooms are very spacious, flat panel TV's and duvets (yay!!)

Public areas are contemporarily styled and the staff are pretty much on the ball.

Free wireless internet throughout the hotel, and if I'm in that part of the world, I'll definately be going back.
