“Good for a weekend B&B”

I agree with previous posters that Ettington Chase offers good value for a weekend B&B if you have a car or want a quiet break. The brochure in the room give a rate of about 35 pounds per person and for that you get a decent breakfast, a good pool, a tennis court, plenty of parking space and a quiet country location. There is a large modern bar and 2 pubs about 500 metres away in the village. Some of the rooms are large, of course they may not all be. The venue is very much geared to conferences and weddings but the weekend rate looks good value. I would say that the dinner at the weekend would depend on what other events were going on, but its only 3 miles out of Stratford.

“fantastic staff”

We stayed here at the week-end and had a fantastic time, the room was comfortable and more than adequate for our needs the snow pillows and mattress toppers they have on the beds are fantastic and we intend to go back and purchase some as we forgot when we checked out. On saturday night we joined in the 70's Christmas Party night and had a truly brilliant evening the dance floor was packed all night and the staff were always on hand to assist with any requests. The two ladies at Reception on Sunday morning were delightful, polite, and could not of been more accommodation. We will be back very soon.

“Fantastic Find”

We've just returned from a lovely relaxing weekend at Ettington Chase. Yes it obviously is a Conference Centre during the week but thats a bonus as the facilities are fantastic. The setting is beautiful and the new building doesn't look out of place like some. The staff were extremely friendly and even informed us when we had left our car window open! The swimming pool and spa area rivals that of some hotels double the price and even though there was a Xmas party there at the same time as us, there was only five people in the pool, so plenty of space and relaxation. The room was spacious and spotlessly clean - didn't do the white glove test but near enough! LCD TV, very comfy beds and posh smellies in bathroom in standard rooms.
Breakfast was excellent , well cooked and plentiful but was'nt very keen on sitting with strangers but then again you have to remember what it is. In fact its very easy to think you are in 5 star hotel land when we only paid 2 star price. Would definitely stop here again.
Only one moan - the showers! The words hurricane and typhoon spring to mind!! Just hang on for dear life!!

Decent hotel, nice rooms, LCD tv and tastefully decorated with posh smellies in the bathroom. Decent bedding and other room accessories.

Staff were average, didn't really go out of their way to be pleasant but weren't rude. No snack vending machine, no crisps or snacks available at the bar.

The hotel has a pool, gym, sauna, jacuzzi i think and also a games room with snooker tables, table football etc. It also has tennis courts and nice grounds, plenty of parking etc.

Just don't book to stay there to be close to Stratford. It isn't. A taxi in cost £20.00 and the same back. so £40.00 return into town makes it an expensive location if you want to be anywhere other than the hotel.

Probably great for conferences, just no good for a getaway if you intend to see Stratford - or anywhere else for that matter.

Thumbs up for the hotel, just not for the location if you don't need to be in the sticks.

“Great place to stay”

Ettington Chase Hotel and Conference Centre

This place is without doubt geared towards the business user during the week and it does it very well I'm sure. My experience has only been at weekends and it's very relaxing and quiet, no sign of the hussle and bussle of the business fraternity. April was my second weekend visit here in two years and I plan to come again at the end of May.

What you get here is an excellent modern hotel that is clean, quiet, spacious, in large grounds and with good facilities. It's an ideal base for touring the area and there are local pubs within walking distance if you don't want to eat at the hotel. Having said that the food is excellent and the breakfast is 'eat as much as you like' English breakfast buffet style (you won't be needing lunch).

I agree with some of the comments that it's not steeped in character, but it's not without either and is very well presented and decorated throughout so don't let that put you off.

It's the sort of place you hope too many people don't find out about so you can keep its excellent offering all to yourself! However, it's only fair that I share my experience in the way other Trip Advisor members have been a great source of information to me in the past...(just don't tell ALL your friends)
