A group of 6 of us stayed at the Tudor House Hotel when we visited Warwick races last weekend. It was my Birthday, and my husband had arranged for flowers and champagne on ice to be in the room - the reception had met the challenge wonderfully!
We had Room 1, the Henry VIII room and were told it had a four poster bed so was £85 a night instead of other doubles which were mainly £65.
The room was quirky, crooked and very Tudor in style, but the 4 poster was barely a double size and it was wonky! I rolled across it at night and there isn't much room to roll! It just about sufficed for a night, but any longer and we wouldn't have stayed in that room. The bathroom sloped up hill, and was very basic.
Our friends had a double room upstairs (room 10) and this had a better bed and lovely bathroom with corner bath and was also £85.
I'd recommend ear plugs too as you do hear the traffic on the main road through the old single leaded windows.
The staff were accommodating and breakfast was good. We also had a few drinks in the bar which is really oldy worldy - the log fire was roaring and the food smelt good!
On the whole I would recommend it for a night away if you want to feel like you have travelled back to th Tudor age - Americans would love it but not if they stayed in room 1 (get Room 10 instead!)
