“Great hotel, lovely and modern”

City Inn Birmingham

I stayed at this hotel whilst in Birmingham on Business.

The hotel is in a great location, close to lots of bars and restuarant.

The hotel is undergoing a refurb at the mo, and I was put into one of the rooms which had recently been finished. The room was lovely and clean, and very modern, with a flat screen TV, DVD player and stereo. Bathrobes were also provided, and the power shower was very refreshing!!

This hotel is ideal for business travellers, and also other visitors to Birmingham.

I couldnt find any faults with this hotel and would happily stay there again

I stayed at the Cityinn Birmingham for 1 night on a Saturday, (on my own) in readiness for a 9am Sunday morning meeting.
Check in was speedy and pleasant and the receptionist was happy to direct me to the Bull ring.

I had lunch in the City cafe which was a pleasant place for a lone traveller.

I ordered room service in the evening as I didn't feel brave enough to dine alone in the evening! The food was delivered very quickly and when it came it was still hot. The same for breakfast which was delivered 2 minutes after my requested time.

The rooms are very modern (bordering on being blandly beige), but are very clean and well equipped. CD, DVD player and mini fridge.

Definatley worth the £79 for B&B, would stay again

“Below Standards”

most people who are looking for hotels decide where to spend their time based upon appearance, price and flexibility. well the city inn birmingham dissapoints on all levels.

allow me to justify my claim..

firstly - we asked for an early arrival considering how far we were travelling to the hotel and we were granted since the lady on the phone admitted they had less than half occupancy the previous night. so we arrive, park in the NCP carpark since they had a " full " car park (even thou the city inn car park was virtually empty - we walked through it to get back into the hotel) then only to be told that we could not check in until 3 hours time!! i was astonished at their lack of sympathy and challenged the promises they had originally made us. no apolagies were made.

secondly - wen we finally managed to get into our rooms (3 rooms were booked) we were allocated rooms on the first floor with a busy conference taking place in the meeting rooms down the corridor. so when we complained we were given a room move that took over an hour to complete!!

thirdly - there was NO hot water, and aparently it had something to do with the boilers on the roof. im sorry but i was under the assumption that water was included in the nightly rate???? it was appauling.

lastly - i was being woken at 7am if not earlier by housekeeping.. they jus enter the room and im half asleep. rooms should be serviced at a decent time at the convinience of the guest!!!

city inn may look modern on the outside and within the public spaces but it has more than a few problems. i have stayed with the city inn numerous times and its bin horrible every time!! they charge around £170 for a box room wit uncomfy furniture?? ridiculos!!

“Great hotel close to city centre”

Stayed at this hotel for a weekend in March wih girlfriend. I found it ideal for a city break, the hotel was very clean and well decorated. It was also very quiet considering it's very close to Broad Street and the Canal bars. All in all I cannot fault this hotel and would definitely come back. + The shower was possibly the best I've ever had....

“Perfect for one night in city”

Stayed for one night after a Saturday night out in Birmingham. Cost £79 per room for bed and breakfast. Its a very clean, modern hotel and situated right in the centre, just off Broad Street, but without any real passing traffic. Staff were very pleasant and helpful, at reception, in the bar and at breakfast.

Room was very nice - large enough for one night. Very clean, good TV, hi-fi, hairdryer, and tea/coffee. Bathroom was very clean - note there was no bath just a (large) shower cubicle which suited me much better.

Breakfast was served until 11am on Sunday, and had everything you would want - juices, cereals, full english, fruits, meats, cheeses and pastries, with toast and tea served at the table.

We parked in the Brindley Place car park just behind the hotel, where we paid £11.00 for 24 hours, which was a reduced rate for guests - make sure you have your car park ticket stamped at reception when you check out.

A very good hotel to stay in for one or two nights, central location, nice atmosphere, clean and modern, higher than average decor and style of bar, restaurant and rooms, etc.
