Stayed one night in December with husband and teenage daughter. Staying in a city we would usually stay in a 4* Holiday Inn/Crowne Plaza or similar, but due to lack of suitable rooms we made our first visit to the 3* Jurys Inn.

Hotel easy to find, and great having the car park next to the hotel - parking for 24 hours is about £10. The Reception area was lovely - airy, VERY spacious. The reception staff were extremely friendly and helpful - as indeed they had been when we made our phone booking. The lifts were super efficient.

We had a room on the 9th floor with 2 double beds. The room was fine - none of the 'frills' you would get in a 4* but it had everything you needed. Housekeeping was very efficient and friendly when bringing supplies for a third occupant. Only problem was the temperature - the room was freezing when we arrived. We turned on the heating up to the maximum 24 degrees and left a key card in the slot when we went out to keep the heating on - if you don't it turns off automatically. When we came back from the theatre later the room was lovely and warm.

Breakfast was a litle odd at first - the entire process was self service - not only food but cutlery, condiments, drinks - the lot! However, the buffet was fine, and the cooked food was piping hot and not at all greasy.

The location of the hotel is great - within walking distance of New St station, and a few minutes walk from the icc, nia and shopping areas. Previous review said there weren't any good restaurents locally - maybe we arn't so discerning but we found numerous lovely eateries within 10 minutes walk of the hotel. There is a taxi rank directly outside the hotel which always had plenty of cabs available.

All in all a good, value for money hotel. The night's accomodation including breakfast for 3 of us cost £86 (booked by phone a couple of weeks before we went), although the 'rack rate' is £185 for a double. Just the job for a short stay in the hub of Birmingham's cultural and night life. We would definately consider this chain for future city stays.

My husband and I stayed here for one night to go to a concert at the NIA which is a two minute walk away. Location and price was our main concern and we paid £99 for the room through the Jurys website.

Our room was ready when we arrived at 12 midday and check-in was faultless and efficient. We were given a corner room on the top floor, room 1602 which was very big and had great views over the whole city. The room was spotlessly clean and looked like it had been decorated fairly recently. The bed was clean and very comfortable. The room was a bit cold so I upped the thermostat to 25 degrees and went out to the concert. On our return about 11pm the room was freezing, I couldn't take my coat off, never mind get undressed for bed.
I rang reception who were very polite and helpful and guessed that I had been messing about with the thermostat myself and clearly knocked it off somehow...Doh ! She also sent a heater up to the room within a few minutes of my call and the crisis was soon over.
The concierge Ali was also very knowledgable and polite.

There were no negatives for us regarding the hotel and we would thoroughly recommend it.

The area was lacking in good restaurants and we had a horrible all day breakfast in Del Villagio next door, so I would say avoid it.

Stayed here for one night in October 2007. The room was not that big but it was a lovely modern room, with large windows giving a fantastic view over Birmingham. I found the shower to switch between hot and cold in the morning, more so than other hotels, but that is a minor fault of an otherwise very pleasant room.

Didn't really use the hotel's other facilities, but the location was nice and central.

For a 3 star hotel I thought this was above average.

The central location did have one drawback - there are some pubs/nightclubs on the road next to the hotel which were very noisy at the end of the week when we stayed, extending to the wee hours of the morning. And we were at least half way up the hotel. Bring earplugs!

This is a big one. Right on Broad street, where the fun is.

Good front desk.

Bar, dining, rooms, all a bit average.

Great Service, the reception staff were very polite and efficient.
The service i had in the restaurant was very good, with the waiter remembering my name after day one, which i thought was great.
The food was above standard, and quite a lot of the time i was spoiled for choice, with it being a buffet service i thought that was great, as you got to see exactly what you were getting. The breakfast was very good, with a excellent choice of cereals, fruit, yoghurt, or if your like me a full english breakfast!!!!!
The rooms are spacious, clean, and above all well worth the price, as the location of this hotel is excellent with everything within walking distance, right opposite you have a Sainsburys Local, and a Natwest bank with an ATM, and right outside the hotel you have a taxi rank.
