I stayed in the Jury's Inn for one Saturday night in February 2008.

We arrived too early to check in, so we sat in the lobby for a while until our room was ready. The lobby is very comfortable and has a nice bar.

The room was spacious and clean, with tea and coffee making facilities. The TV didn't have any cable channels, which was a surprise in such a modern hotel.

The street outside gets very busy at night, as the hotel is located in an area with lots of bars and restaurants. There were security men on the door when we returned to the hotel at about 11pm.

The hotel was around a 20 minute walk from New Street station, and suited us (we were in town to see a show at the NEC).

My only complaint was that the walls are a little thin. I could hear a very noisy couple next door, which was embarassing when my room mate was my mother!

We booked a couple of months in advance and paid £65 (excl. breakfast), which was really good value. I don't think I'd want to pay more than about £80 for this hotel.

“Great value for money”

Me and my boyfriend stayed at Jurys inn Birmingham for one night on the 28th March.

I booked through Jurys inn online and got a great last minute deal of £59 and on arrival got the choice of a room with one double or two double beds.

The room was very comfortable with plenty of space for our clothes and other belongings.

The only negative for us was that there is no duvet and just blankets which are not as comfortable.

I would definatly stay at this hotel again if i needed to be in Birmingham as it is in a great location in Broad Street and walking distance to the shops in the city centre.

“Pleasant experience”

Jurys Inn Birmingham

I stayed at this hotel as the location is perfect (just in the midst of bars and restaurants) and it was my friends birthday.

Check in was pleasant and it is extremely useful having a Car Park just behind.

The new open plan reception area is very inviting and the check in staff were helpful and welcoming.

I was very impressed with the room, three of us were staying in the room and there was more than enough space, as like a few other reviews, the room was quite cold but I phoned down and within minutes there was a knock on the door and a heater had been provided.

The shower does have a tendency to go hot and cold but it is quite powerful and the floor gets soaking wet - so make sure you put down towels!!!!!

Check out was again smooth and all in all a good experience and will gladly recommend.

I stayed here for three nights whilst attending a conference. The location is good if you are attending an event at the ICC - it's a five minute walk away.
Check-in was quick and efficient and the staff pleasant and friendly. The room was clean and the bed comfortable and was very quiet - I was on the 16th floor.
The bathroom was rather basic - lino-type floor - and the shower temperature fluctuated. Towels were rather thin and small. There were no toiletries, just those horrible soap and gel dispensers which the 4* Holiday Inn chain also has as standard.
The room was rather chilly when I first entered but heated up fairly quickly.
I didn't like the self-service breakfast much - the coffee was undrinkable, but I find that to be the case even in 5* hotels.
My one real gripe was that my bed wasn't properly made, just covered over.
The hotel would in my opinion be value for money if you paid no more than £75 per night.
More than that and you'd be better off looking for discounted deals at 4* hotels, if available.

“For £139 I expect better service and a warm room.....”

I booked into Jurys Inn knowing it is a bog standard hotel, although the room cost £139 without breakfast on a weekday! So, given the price, I had some expectations!

Check-in experience was poor. I had booked two single rooms, and the one in my name they could find, but the receptionist claimed I hadn't booked two rooms, despite the fact that I had a computer generated booking form indicating that I had booked another room. After some time with the receptionist saying that I hadn't booked two rooms, and with him typing names into the computer, he checked with the manager. After that, he found the booking for my friend. To be frank, even if I *had* messed up the booking, after a long journey, being told that you haven't a room isn't what you need, and the receptionist wasn't even diplomatic enough to pretend that it was his error, and not ours!

I was given a room for a disabled person, although I am not disabled, and I only mention this because I thought other Trip Advisor members might be interested. The room seemed to be well equipped with bars for baths, a shallow bath, special toilets, etc. I can't say for sure that the room would be good for someone in a wheelchair, but it seemed to me that it would be.

The room was, however, absolutely freezing, and despite playing about with the air conditioning and heating, it remained freezing for my entire stay. My friend's room, on the other hand, was gigantic compared to mine, but it was also cold. There are signs in the rooms about Jurys Inn being eco friendly, and a very annoying system where cards have to be put into slots in order to turn the lights on, etc. However, despite this, there is no excuse for a hotel room, or in this case two hotel rooms, being cold.

The rooms were both basic, clean, with a satisfactory bed, tv and had tea and coffee making facilities. There is no room service, but you can go to the restaurant/bar and bring food/drink up to the room, which was okay, but not really acceptable for the price.

Breakfast was £10 extra - and was not particularly good value, as the standard of produce was very basic. Indeed, the sausage was so plastic that it actually bounced on my friend's plate when he tried to cut into it! Whilst eating breakfast, I was also amazed to be asked by one of the staff to move to the lobby area because he needed to hoover! Considering we'd paid £10 each, I thought this was very poor customer service.

We spoke to the same receptionist on check out as we did at check in. I asked for a taxi to the Mailbox, and was told that it was so close we should walk. When I pointed out that we had lots of luggage with us, he told us to go and get a taxi in the street. If Jurys Inn was my hotel, I would be sending the receptionists on customer relations training courses because I have had better receptions in B&Bs.

In all, the rooms are clean and cold, and the food is very basic and overpriced. If I had paid half the price for the rooms I would not complain, but for £139 I expect better service and a warm room.....
