We have been going to 'Simpsons' quite regually for a couple of years now but had yet to try the taster menu until now, the whole evening was fantastic, an 8 course menu with matching wine pairings. I have posted 2 previous reviews of this restaurant in the past and this one just echo's those really. Still the best bread I have had in any restaurant ever, still some of the best petit fours I have had in any restaurant, that's before you start reviewing any of the actual food courses. All of the menu's change quite regually, the food is always beautiful and beautifully presented, great use of fresh, quality products and great depth of flavour in the dishes/sauces. It is also a restaurant that even if there happens to be something on the menu that you are not too keen on and are not expecting a lot from it always ends up tasting great, amazing really. We have visited maybe 15-20 times now and have never been disappointed with the food, atmosphere or service, Simpsons consistently delivers. And for the few ignorant people who have put negative reviews on here based on portion size - You pay money for the chef's skill in cooking, top ingredients, idea's in food combination and presentation, not to go and have a plate on slop just piled on a plate. The portions here are around the same as any other high end restaurant, don't know if people turn up here expecting to get a plate of food the equivelent of a mixed grill in their local pub, unbelievable really. It's still by far the best restaurant in Birmingham in my opinion, I would recommend it to anyone.
