The mosaics here are the best to be seen outside of Pompeii. For some reason, not many tourists know about this place. It's located a few miles outside of Chichester in a very low key village.
The mosaic floors of one wing of the gigantic 2nd century Roman Villa survives, much of it miraculously intact. The whole thing is located indoors and is viewed by overhead walkways. Well written plaques explain which room you are viewing. As you enter, there is a small museum on the left which is essential to understanding the complex.
The famous 'Cupid on a Dolphin' mosaic also resides here.
The original garden has been reconstructed, probably most beautiful in Spring.
This is great to visit if you love history and appreciate art.
