My DH stays at this hotel regularly, and perhaps we got special treatment because of this. My daughter and I joined him on a business trip and spent 5 days at the Chichester Park.

Our first room was a double bed - hard as rock. The room was small, so we requested a larger room. We were moved post haste to a larger room that held a double bed and 2 single beds. The double bed was hard as rock (like sleeping on a sidewalk was how my 9 year old described it). The single beds were soft and comfortable. We rotated turns on the beds. :)

The staff were very attentive and kind. Breakfast was not very good. Typical English buffet of Poached Eggs, Sausage, Ham (bacon), Beans, and Mushrooms. Help yourself Juice, water, and milk. There were also dry cereals, yogurt with a variety of mix-ins available. The coffee was horrid. The toast was never warm - always cold, thin, and hard.

The room was clean, the bathroom modern, and we always had more than enough towels. Our stay was in Dec. and it was cold and rainy... the room heater did not work. We called the front desk and the manager/owner brought us a portable heater immediately. The maids asked us if we needed more blankets and if we preferred them to insert the blankets into the bed make-up rather than leaving them folded at the foot of the bed.

Overall it was a pleasant stay. The rooms are being rennovated, so during the day we heard a lot of banging from upstairs. Our room was obviously upgraded with soft yellow walls, crown molding, modern bedspreads, etc.

Room Service. We ordered dinner in twice and it was delivered hot and promptly. The food was really quite good. We ate dinner once in the dining room. It was also a good meal with good service.

We did not use the pool or the spa ammenities as we held a busy schedule. We have used them in the past and found them enjoyable, clean, and towels WERE provided.

Stopped for one night because we were attending a function in Chichester so the location was first class. The room was fine-clean & well equipped. It was hot so a dip in the pool was very welcome!
Reception staff very helpful & arranged a taxi for us.
Breakfast was a bit disappointing- everything on hotplates and a bit `stewed`. Cold toast!

“Over priced basic hotel”

Chichester Park Hotel

We have just stayed at this hotel and based on the price tag (£100 per night) were very disappointed. You can stay at very nice 4* hotels for the same money!
The staff and reception were friendly and it was spotlessly clean. The breakfast was above average for a 3* hotel.
BUT - the hotel room was basic, much more so than a Travel Inn etc where you can stay for far less money!
Our carpet was damp, the furniture was straight out of MFI in the 1970s and the bed was appalling!!! The bed was a very basic mattress, no mattress protector, just a sheet on top with a sheet and 1970s bedspread on that - we were freezing. I asked for blankets at 1am and to be fair they arrived within 10 minutes.
The radiator sounded like it was entering outer space when I turned it on.

Having considered the Travel Inn in Chichester and the Travelodge in Arundel, we found that Chichester Park Hotel worked out much better value for us and was in a nicer location with better facilities, including a pool. We made the booking at the last minute and got a special rate of £70 for the night inc. breakfast. For the Travel Inn we were quoted £60 plus £7.50 each for breakfast.

We visited the location of the Travel Inn whilst staying in the area and found that it was on a leisure park, with cinema, restaurants etc. A good location if you want these facilities, but not for us. When we visited the leisure park, the Travel Inn car park and the main car park were full and it was very busy and noisy as it was a Saturday night. We decided we had made the right decision.

From the moment I rung the hotel to make the booking the receptionist was very helpful and polite. On arrival, again the gentleman on Reception was very nice.

First impressions were good. The decor in the communal rooms is a little unusual - if you are expecting a cosy, traditional English hotel, you will be disappointed. The communal area decor is a more 1970/80s modern style, with bare red brick walls and large modern pine ceilings and pine beams. It reminded me, for some reason, of a leisure centre! However don't let this put you off. It is clean and perfectably acceptable. I should add that the rooms are not decorated in this style.

Our room was clean, very similar to a Travel Inn/Travelodge style room, but with some extras. Bed was comfortable, with nice soft pillows. The room was quiet, despite being on the side with the road.

The swimming pool, although not large, was clean. It was all one depth and didn't have a deep end. There was a smaller pool for children. The attendant was very nice and explained the facilities to us. We got there at 6.30pm and had the pool to ourselves. Only one small issue here - although split into male and female rooms, there were no individual cubicles in the changing rooms, but there was a loo in each changing room so I got changed in that.

Breakfast was good, with some extras that we didn't really expect for the price, not just a cooked breakfast and cornflakes, but dried fruit, nuts, yoghurt etc. It was self-service, with the staff bringing toast and drinks. Once again the staff were superb, very helpful, efficient and attentive. They cleared used plates away immediately.

I was particularly impressed with one of the kitchen staff, who was refilling the buffet. He saw I was confused and helpfully explained to me, without me asking, what yoghurts were on offer. In my experience kitchen staff usually appear and disappear without saying a word and don't help you.

So, would thoroughly recommend this hotel as an ideal stopover, but not perhaps for those of you wanting a romantic weekend in luxurious or traditional English surroundings.
