We booked at very short notice to stay at the hotel. The manager and staff on the telephone were very helpful as we asked for a suite for 2 adults and 2 young children. They were able to accomodate us at a very reasonable price.

After booking we read the reviews and started to worry that the hotel would not be up to standard. HOWEVER on arrival we were pleasantly surprised. The staff, hotel and room was far better than we expected.

Rooms were clean, bathroom and decor were great. We felt at home, we usually stay in 4 or 5* hotels but this one was good enough for us. It just proves that you should not believe every thing you read.

Only down side was that room service did not cover the food when it was delivered to the room and this was a little off putting. But this can be easily rectified. It did not stop us from eating in the restaurant every night as the menu was good and varied.

Thank you to all those at Jarvis for a great stay and we will be coming back again in future.

I stayed here over a weekend for a business seminar. The rooms were really clean and I had a twin room to myself :-) There was alot of storage space and all the modcons you would expect...kettle, tv, bathroom etc. I did have a slight problem with the showerhead in the shower/bath but reported it to reception.
The conference facilites were fine and the buffet lunch was lovely. The evening meal was quite poor for vegetarians but a good range of desserts and starters. A highlight for me was the pool/ spa. Which was a lovely way to relax after a day long slog talking shop!
There is a bar in the hotel and a tv screen which is open as late as you want it (even when returning from town) the bar staff are very jolly and extremely friendly even when its late!
There is another pub around the corner which serves food and a sainsburys 5 mins away with a cashpoint.
Into town the taxi was about £6 and there are a few well known bars for you to enjoy, but they aren't open very late for those wanting to party :-)
Overall I had a lovely time and for a business weekend it was a great success, truely recommended!

we booked for part of the easter break not knowing much about the hotel, but reading just before we left some not very complimentry reviews about the hotel. on arriving we found that the hotel was in fact no longer owned by ramada but had just changed hands 1 week prevously. the rooms are a little tired but were clean & comfortable. the pool area was also very clean ( the changing room small) the gym facilities are 1 cycle 1 rower 2 situp frames all placed by the side of pool (a little too overlooked!) & there is a small baby pool, perfect for very young familes as the main pool depth is approx 4ft.
the breakfast was fine (not greasy) & all the staff very helpful & attentive. my daughter loved the bowl of creme-eggs at reception, which was consistantly refilled.
Don't always be led by reviews, you could be pleasantly suprised.

The hotel could do with a total refit, however that did not stop us enjoying a pleasant stay.
The staff were excellant, friendly & attentive at all times.
We made lots of use of the pool (5 year old) and leisure facs.
