Very pleasant welcome and extremely helpful owner. Lovely village and setting. All in all very good value for money and will probably return in future.
The minor downside would probably be that the bedroom was looking a bit tired - perfectly clean but a tad dingy. With a bit of investment in bedroom and bathroom decor and fittings this place would be truly excellent. Having said that, for the price we paid I was very pleased and if returning to sussex will happily stay here. Much more enjoyable than an anonymous hotel.
A word of warning - the (unrelated) pub down the road (The Fox Goes Free), was a real disappointment. Ok food but terrible service and hefty prices. The pubs in the villages either side looked better. Can't comment on the evening meals in Woodstock House because they weren't doing them during our stay (which we were told in advance, so no complaints). Breakfast was cooked to order and perfectly satisfactory however, and complimentary tea and cake on arrival was a nice surprise.
