We had looked for a seaside hotel and couldn't get lodging. So we booked 2 rooms - 1/twin, 1/frenchbed - with a shared bathroom at the Lodge. Everything was very clean and the beds were comfortable. The rooms are quite small and the bathroom IS small, but in fair weather you have all the luxury of a beautifully tended garden and your own set of garden chairs and table. The lounge was big - we did not use it, because we were out most of the time and my grandson had to go to bed in the evening. And there is a bar for a late-night drink. We had a refrigerator and coffee-making utensils.
The breakfast was excellent. I have stayed in many posh hotels but what richard and ann cooked was as good as any of them in quality (maybe not variety - but who needs more than an extended full English breakfast). The most wonderful poached eggs and real coffee in a Bodum coffee maker - as much as we liked.
Selsey itself is just beautiful so is the whole peninsula. Birdwatchers can get their full share.
The best meal we had was at The Seal in Selsey. Their toasted sandwhich is something to write home about.
We had a very good stay. I'm sure we will come again and we will recommend it to all our American friends - they would love the warm welcome.
