“Wonderful Stay”

The Lister Mansion Hotel

27 Jan 2008

Stayed for one night booking two superior double rooms via the laterooms website. £69.00 per room dinner & breakfast during Jan & Feb which was excellent value so I wasn't expecting too much. However I was truly surprised. A converted mansions transformed into a boutique hotel. The staff although few are very friendly and will try and help you with any request. Check in was very quick and the Manager was provides an excellent standard of customer service that could teach some 5 star hotels in London a thing or two.
The hotel has a bar/lounge area. Room service and restaurant and you can purchase small items toothbrush, comb etc from reception. They offer good size rooms furnished to a good standard contemporary in feel and ikea type look. Whilst the rooms are minimal in furnishings, they provide everything that you need. The underfloor heating does not work as well as one would hope but they have small heaters in each room should you feel uncomfortable. The hotel also provides wake up calls and daily paper should you require one. The rooms are equipped with rain showers which are nice but not adequate for the larger man who might struggle to get in one.

The Hotel has been decorated to a high standard in keeping with the hotel and boutique theme. The bar is standard prices and the food in the restaurant is pleasant.

The hotel has a nice ambience and is easy to feel relaxed. The doors are locked around 12pm so make sure you let them know if you are going to out till late.

The mattress are a little uncomfortable and I found I had to sleep with one of the duvets under me. The rooms are supplied with coffee, tea and biscuits and the bathrooms with Molton Brown products. They did forget these in my room, however this was quickly rectified. There is also 32inch plasma tv with freeview and recording facility. The rooms are clean.

I can confirm the refurbishment has been complete and there is no scaffolding. If you like your view request a park view, you might not get it but its worth a go.

Breakfast was to a very high standard using local products for the Cooked English. Although the choice is small.

We had an excellent stay at this hotel and the Manager was very friendly and helpful and really tries to put the customer first.

I would really recommend this hotel to any one for good value for money and Excellent customer service.

“Amazing place!”

This is purely a review on the restaurant as we have not yet had the chance to stay there. We dined there on the Sunday before Christmas as it was the only chance for several family members to get together for the festive season.

The building itself was very nicely lit up and we got a very friendly reception from the owner who was on the front desk. However, we were very perturbed to see the dining room completely empty, not a good sign we thought. However we were very much mistaken. The restaurant is decorated in a modern style with very comfortable leather chairs and I imagine a very good ambiance when full. The food was fabulous, with portion sizes of truly 'Yorkshire' proportions i.e. large. My main course of Slow Braised Beef was probably the best example of this dish i've had to date. The meat was meltingly tender and sitting on a bed of gorgeous Mustard Mash with wonderful roasted carrots & parsnips. The extra vegetables were cooked to perfection. Others of the party were also mightily impressed with their choices. We had to forego sweets due to the mammoth mains but rest assured we will be back to sample them in the near future.

“A Real Find”

The Lister Mansion Hotel

29 Oct 2007

This hotel was a real find. We wanted a Saturday night double bed and breakfast with dinner at short notice. Everywhere in the Dales were fully booked so we thought that we would try Bradford instead. We fell on our feet since everything about this hotel (apart from the slightly down at heal rear parking area, not their fault) was first class. The staff were welcoming, polite and efficient. The public areas and room were modern and spotlessly clean. The evening meal was fantastic as was the breakfast (probably the best full english that I have ever had in a hotel). The tarrif in no way reflected on the quality of the stay. The management are really trying and I hope that they succeed - they deserve to. Go and see for yourself, you will not be disappointed.

“Fantastic service at The Lister Mansion Hotel.”

My family and I stayed for 1 night at this hotel in September. On first sight of the property I was surprised to see scaffolding still there. Inside the building is lovely and very clean. The interior is decorated in a contemporary style. Our room had a plasma tv and an interconnecting single room for our son. Our bed was a leather sleigh bed that was very comfortable.

We dined at the restaurant that night and had it all to ourselves. We learned that the usual manager was away and that it was an ex employee running the hotel for him that weeked. The service was absolutely fantastic, nothing was too much trouble. The surroundings were great and the food delicious. Breakfast was included in our rate and we had cereals and toast followed by a cooked breakfast that was made to order. We would love to stay here again.

“Good stay after some problems”

The Lister Mansion Hotel

Lister Mansion is in an excellent position and with some more work would be a very attractive hotel.
We arrived late afternoon having booked months earlier and found there had been a problem arising from us having bought our stay via EBay. For a while it looked as though we would not be able to stay but the problem was resolved very satifactorily
and after that we were made to feel comfortable.
If you have booked via EBay contact the hotel before you travel.
The room was modern and comfortable, but a little sparsely-furnished. The bathroom , which looked good, has a shower which did not drain well .
The restaurant served very good, generous food which is very good value.
Eating there is wise as there aren't many other restaurants within walking distance.
Rating given on value for money.
