I stayed at this hotel as I had a conference there and it was booked through my place of work. The hotel is not too bad but I was glad that the £160 for the room didn't come out of my wallet.
Location is excellent, being near the train station and the city centre. Check-in was great and efficient with a very friendly receptionist.
The room was a twin and seemed on the small side (perhaps it was made to look so by the enormous TV!) and was a smoking room (I thought that the hotel had gone completely non-smoking, but this room did smell like a smoking room).
We didn't stay for dinner but had a drink at the bar before going out to look for food in the city - the bar was very expensive.

Breakfast in the morning was very good with a wide choice from cooked to cheeses, meats and croissants.

Not the best hotel for value but the location is fine.

A group of us from work stayed here as a central place for a night out.

The room as expected was above average, the whole place was clean and tidy and the staff were good.

Night staff were more than helpful when we came through the doors in the early hours.

The breakfast included in the price was also fantastic, it was busy. However, lots of choice and helpful staff who went out of their way to accomodate us.

Very central for Leeds, both by car and train.

Our family of four stayed here for five nights at the beginning of May. Hilton have this excellent arrangement where they will typically offer you a second room for your children at half the price you pay for the first room. This is not generally advertised on the website, or anywhere else for that matter, you have to ring the central reservations number and speak with them. On this occasion we ended up with two adjoining rooms on the 12th floor (recommend this as lower floors tend to get a bit noisy with the hen and stag parties at the weekend), one king double and one twin, full breakfast and two evening meals for all four of us. The cost - GBP 126.75 per night. A real bargin for a hotel of this standard.

The hotel is very central, easy walking distance under the railway bridge to the centre of Leeds with it's great shopping and clubs, pubs and restaurants. Service was very good, excellent breaktfast, small but well equipped leisure centre (with pool), evening menu is fine during the week but the set price menu at weekends was a bit plain. Rooms, as previously reported, small but they have everything you need, although the beds could be softer.

The negatives, also previously reported, are the bar prices and the car park. Be careful when parking in the car park, it's very tight, but perfectly do-able unless you have a monster truck. The worst aspect is the hotel's residents parking arrangement. They simply charge you GBP 13.50 per day instead of GBP 14.00. The problem is they attempt to charge you for the full duration of your stay, whether or not you have used the car park all the time. Unless you intend leaving your car in the car park all the time, it's probably better to pay as you go without involving the hotel. Having said that, a quick discussion with the front desk about how little I'd actually used the car park resulted in them waiving the charges altogether.

When booking, it took several phone calls both to the central reservations and to the hotel itself, to ensure that we got the correct rooms at the correct rate, but it was well worth the effort.

This hotel get five stars for value for money, four for service and breakfast and three for room size and the parking. I'd stay here again without hesitation if I can get the same bargain. Also, the Hilton chain will be the first I contact when travelling with my family. The deal with second room for children at half price is excellent and I'm surprised they don't give themselves wider publicity.

“Not the worst”

Hilton Leeds City

I must say I was a little surprised at the bad reviews of this hotel. I stayed here for a month with work and found the staff very friendly and helpful, the menu good, breakfast fine and the conference rooms very accomodating.

Location is excellent, within walking distance of the shopping centre, about 15 minutes to the bars and harvey nicols.

The bedrooms could do with a makeover and you should always insist you do not have a room near the elevator as it is incredibly noisy.

The health club is good albeit open to the public so it can get very busy at peak times.

I mean for what you pay you could probably do better, however I reckon given the choice i would stay here again.

Stayed here with a group of 16 girls for a hen party weekend. The hotel is in a good location - just far enough away from the nightlife to mean all is quiet in the early hours but close enough to walk to everything. The rooms were standard Hilton hotel rooms - nice, modern and good bathroom. The breakfast was buffet style which was great for everyone. The pool was good too. The hotel seemed to have several hen and stag groups staying there and we were all grouped on the 6th floor which is a smoking floor so the room smelt disgustingly of smoke.
Provided I didn't have to stay in a smoking room, I would stay here again.
