After getting into the room (the first card wouldn't work) we found it tired. No aircon so, as it was a hot night, had to leave the window open, which fine until the bypass traffic started at 0430.

We ate in the restaurant, but it was so bad they gave a refund. My wife's tagliatelle was so over cooked it fell apart (what happened to al dente?) and the roasted vegetables with it were wet and tasteless. My first medium rare fillet was black on the outside and dark brown on the inside. The second one did have a hint of pink, so I gave up and ate it..My first glass of red tasted oxidised as if the bottle had been opened too long, the second was from a fresh bottle and was OK.

Hotels and restaurants in the UK are getting much better than they were - it makes it all the more disappointing to end up in such a terrible place as this. And it would put me off staying or eating in any other Ramada hotel, anywhere.

“Great service”

Ramada Leeds North

9 Feb 2007

Although in need of public area refurbishment the service was great. In particular the restaurant service. breakfast was very good and the staff were some of the friendliest i have come across on business travels. You avoid the hussle of the city centre to get here on the outskirts of ;eeds and good for the motorway or getting to York.

“Cold comfort”

Ramada Leeds North

Stayed for 4 nights. First impressions of reception was good with problem-free check-in and couteous staff. Small room was no surprise for hotel rate but empty loo roll from last occupant was still hanging there ( this was never removed/replaced during the whole week) and there were no bath towels left although room was clean. Whilst waiting for towel delivery I found that radiator controls were broken off and there was no heat. I asked about this and was told that there was a problem with the heating system on the whole floor. I was offered a fan heater which warmed the room but proved to be very noisy so asked for a blanket to supplement the very thin quilt during the night when I would not have wanted the fan heater noise to keep me awake. 'All blankets have gone to the dry cleaners' is what I was told. I felt that my intelligence was definately being insulted here. I had very poor sleep beacause I was cold in bed.
Restaurant food was fine with pleasant service but the noise from overhead televisions was an unwelcome intrusion....I did succeeed in getting this turned down a bit but not enough to make a difference. On 'express check-out' I was charged for 3 breakfasts that I had not had and this slowed my early morning departure down. Still not resolved ( I await my amended bill by post). Why didn't I move ? Too much work on in Leeds to go hotel hunting. Why didn't I complain more? Hotels should realise that when people are away from home they don't want to be made to feel uncomfortable by making themselves look like someone who is always complaining. Nobody ever asked me if everything was alright with my stay.

“Two night with little sleep”

Ramada Leeds North

7 Oct 2005

I spent two nights in this "hotel". This Hotel is located directly across from a main bus station (Seacroft) and is on the corner of a large noisy rotary. My room was so noisy, that I was unable to sleep at all between the busses and lorries traveling the rotary.

The main light in my room was not working. There was a card on the desk in the room asking if any repairs needed to be made. I made a note of the broken light. The next evening when I returned, the card was gone, but the light was not fixed.

There was no hairdryer in the bathroom.

Seacroft (the area of Leeds where the Hotel is located) is a low income area. It is about 30 minutes on a bus from Leeds city center and one mile (with no sidewalk) from the nearest train station.

The staff at the hotel likes to congregate at the front desk. Every time I needed to speak with someone at the front desk they were speaking with another employee of the Hotel. They would finish their conversation before asking if I needed any assistance (as if I would stand there for my health).

I was able to get a rate of 18 GBP per night (one person, single room). This was a deal compared to other hotels in Leeds. However, after flat hunting all day having to take a bus 30 minutes to Seacroft to "sleep" in a noisy room was terrible. After 3 days I am exhausted and need a day to recover from overnighting in this hotel.
