Lovely hotel but a few glitches which need ironing out. Firstly, on the positive side, we stayed in a suite which was a good size and well equipped, Breakfast was tasty, hot and a decent selection was offered. The location of the hotel is good, right near the train station and shops, restaurants etc. And the hotel staff did try to be helpful in sorting out some of the glitches.
Our room was very cold and no matter what we did to try to adjust the heating neither us or anyone from the hotel could stop cold air blowing out so the hotel had to lend us a portable heater. There were a couple of lights in the bathroom which bizarrely appeared to have no switch so were constantly on. Again, someone from maintenance came to look at them but couldn't work out how to turn them off either. Not a big deal, we just had to make sure the bathroom door was shut to keep the room dark when we were trying to sleep, just odd!
The hotel did not seem to be well set up to cope with a high number of guests - one desk to check in/check out which of course everyone tends to be doing at the same time, a breakfast room which seats only about 20 people whereas I believe the hotel has over 40 rooms so there could be 80+ people staying. We got down early but there were people queuing to get a seat at breakfast when we left. We also couldn't understand why there was not a proper bar at the hotel, the 'honesty bar' is not really a bar, it is a couple of sofas in a hallway. Lastly, we had parked in the nearby NCP the hotel has a special rate with so when we checked out, we were told we needed to pay the hotel for parking and they would give us a ticket to exit. They did this but apparently need to give us a ticket for each day so we couldn't get out the NCP (which is a 10 minute walk away).
Caroline was very helpful in sorting out some of these issues but we felt that some could have been prevented in the first place.
Room Tip: Ground floor suite is largest but may suffer road noise. 3rd & 4th floor suites quieter.

Thank you for your review.
I am sorry to read that there were glitches during your otherwise great stay, I have investigated these, please accept my sincere apologies for any inconvenience caused.
I have just mentioned on a previous review response the plans we have for our bar. Within the coming months we will be developing part of the ground floor of the Hotel into a beautifully designed cocktail bar, I do hope you get a chance to come back later this year and have a look.
Many thanks
