“Best place in the world!”

Discovered this hotel by accident four years ago and have stayed there three time since, including the night after my husband and I married.

It's a fantastic hotel, with lovely rooms and classy touches everywhere. Feels boutique in exactly the ways that some hotel chains try hard to be. Staff are brilliant, can't say enough good things about it.

We love it here.

“Amazing hotel and great value”

I booked this hotel for the second time.. we Loved it at the first stay and was not bother to write a review as most of us does... when you have a great experience. but when i visited the second time i thought i should give the hotel its due...

the hotel is a listed building and it used to be a gentlemen's club and you can see that from the lounges on each floor and the high ceilings and big windows... the rooms are very comfy and the bathroom is full of luxuriousness and very clean, the bed is very comfortable and all necessary stuff is in. it is a luxury hotel so you would expect everything to be grand, and yes it ticks all the boxes. the breakfast was good and hearty with a lot of varieties even for the most pick person.

all in all i would go back... it is not a budget hotel but it is a great value for money if you want a bit of luxury

the hotel location is amazing ... its literally outside the train station and 2 minutes from the city center

will book it again if i am going to Leeds.

It was great to read that you have had two great stays with us, thank you for taking the time to write such a glowing review.

Being in the former Leeds & County Liberal club does indeed give great athmosphere and period features which have been symphatheticly turned into our beautiful hotel.

Please contact me directly so i may meet you and personally oversee your next stay with us.

Many thanks

“Fabulous!”

I stayed here the night before my wedding and also on my wedding night in the Gladstone Suite, and really spacious suite to the right of reception. The suite was just magnificent - absolutely huge, and perfect for getting ready for my wedding in. The only reason for giving it four stars now five was that the suite is at the front of the hotel, and on a Saturday night was really noisy throughout.

I can't commend Caroline, and other hotel staff enough for everything they did to make our stay special. Our every need was attended to, and we had the most wonderful surprise arriving back in our suite on our wedding night to find it had been completely tidied up, rose petals laid on the bed in the shape of a heart and chocolates, strawberries and champagne left for us.

Thank you so much Quebecs for making our wedding so special.

“Great for a luxury night!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 January 2012

I live in Leeds but took my boyfriend here for the night on his birthday. I paid £250 for the night for the peppermint suite which was across two floors.

It was a lovely, spacious and clean suite, nothing amazing about it for £250 apart from the novelty of split level. The shower was nice and powerful, staff very friendly. We had classic fm playing in the room when we arrived and got a phone call checking everything was satisfactory which was a nice touch.

Hotel would benefit from a carpark but rare in Leeds City Centre so nothing unusual.

Liked the idea of the honesty bar where you help yourself to drinks and write down what you have had so they can charge it to your room. Rather a privilege this day in age!

Would possibly return again in a few years if I ever had money to burn again but it would have to be a very special occasion and even then you would probably be able to get better value for money elsewhere...merely based on how expensive it was!

“Lovely hotel but too many glitches”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 January 2012

Lovely hotel but a few glitches which need ironing out. Firstly, on the positive side, we stayed in a suite which was a good size and well equipped, Breakfast was tasty, hot and a decent selection was offered. The location of the hotel is good, right near the train station and shops, restaurants etc. And the hotel staff did try to be helpful in sorting out some of the glitches.

Our room was very cold and no matter what we did to try to adjust the heating neither us or anyone from the hotel could stop cold air blowing out so the hotel had to lend us a portable heater. There were a couple of lights in the bathroom which bizarrely appeared to have no switch so were constantly on. Again, someone from maintenance came to look at them but couldn't work out how to turn them off either. Not a big deal, we just had to make sure the bathroom door was shut to keep the room dark when we were trying to sleep, just odd!

The hotel did not seem to be well set up to cope with a high number of guests - one desk to check in/check out which of course everyone tends to be doing at the same time, a breakfast room which seats only about 20 people whereas I believe the hotel has over 40 rooms so there could be 80+ people staying. We got down early but there were people queuing to get a seat at breakfast when we left. We also couldn't understand why there was not a proper bar at the hotel, the 'honesty bar' is not really a bar, it is a couple of sofas in a hallway. Lastly, we had parked in the nearby NCP the hotel has a special rate with so when we checked out, we were told we needed to pay the hotel for parking and they would give us a ticket to exit. They did this but apparently need to give us a ticket for each day so we couldn't get out the NCP (which is a 10 minute walk away).

Caroline was very helpful in sorting out some of these issues but we felt that some could have been prevented in the first place.

Room Tip: Ground floor suite is largest but may suffer road noise. 3rd & 4th floor suites quieter.

Thank you for your review.

I am sorry to read that there were glitches during your otherwise great stay, I have investigated these, please accept my sincere apologies for any inconvenience caused.

I have just mentioned on a previous review response the plans we have for our bar. Within the coming months we will be developing part of the ground floor of the Hotel into a beautifully designed cocktail bar, I do hope you get a chance to come back later this year and have a look.

Many thanks
