“Impressed with the service”

Weetwood Hall

23 Apr 2008

Situated conveniently at the junction of Otley Road and the ring road but approached up a 100 yard drive.
On arrival the hotel had no record of our booking through Hotel Connexions and we were told the hotel was fully booked. Fortunately, I had my booking confirmation with me. We were quickly brought a cup of tea in the lounge while 'the manager' was consulted. This resulted in our being given a large well-appointed, first-floor room in the old house, which was very comfortable, though there is no lift.
Staff were efficient , friendly and helpful at all times. We opted to dine in the restaurant, which we thought slightly expensive at £21, but worth it if you could eat your fill! A 3 course carvery was available. Starters were self-service, cold but with a wide selection. A full cooked breakfast was adequate, but if you prefer cold meat and cheese the choice was very limited.
The car park was some 50 yards from the hotel, though there was ample space to drive up and unload at the door.
Would certainly go again.

“Clean, comfortable and friendly - but I wanted coffee with my breakfast”

The weather on the day I stayed at the Weetwood was foul - cold, grey and snowy - which made it all thye more conforting to be crashed out on one of the big squashy sofas in the Weetwod recetion, with a cafetiere of excellent coffe, watching the snow come down. The staff were unfailingly friendly butu not ober intrusive, my room wasn't huge but it was clean and well kitted out. Unfortunately the bar in the stables was so full I coudn't find a table and ended u eating in the hotel brasserie - which is kind of like an All Bar One but without anyone in it,. The food was good, though, and Iit wasn't hideousl;y exensive.

One let down at breakfast though - instead of the excellent coffee I'd been able to get the night before, jugs of hot water on the tables, with tea bags so yuo make your own drink. But no coffee. And I am soneone who needs to be heavily caffeinated to get me out of the door.

“Good breakfast! Mansion House has the better rooms”

We arrived late on a Friday for a 2 night stay to catch up with old friends since I moved and I thought this would be a good spot as they live in Headingley...mmm maybe not!
Its too close to the main road and roundabout for my liking. We changed our room as the first was tatty and depressing and too noisy - we thought the window was open! We were moved quickly to a room in the Mansion for an surcharge of £15 per night and was worth it as it was huge and lovely and quiet with a nice bathroom and large comfy bed.
There are a lot weddings here I think and they are abit naff so if you don't like cheesy music interspersed into your conversations in the bar, you'd be better staying somewhere else at the weekend!
The breakfast was great and the reception staff friendly and efficient, even if English was their second language...
This place is ok for a business traveller on a budget or for those looking for abit of county house chic on a budget but its nothing to get too excited about.
The 5 star Quebec Boutique Hotel in the city centre is fab for a posh weekend though!

“After the Marriot it's great!”

Stayed here for two nights and apart from problems with the room booking it was fine. I took this up with customer services and a satisfactory conclusion was reached.

I would recommend the older part of the building which is much nicer and cosy for only a couple of pounds more than standard. We had room 5 which was lovely and had some nice touches.
The standard room the night before was very basic and was not good value.

The Stables was nice enough.
I thought that the atmosphere here and the whole attitude was much nicer than the Marriot a few miles down the road.

I hotel needs updating in parts as some rooms are so basic, but food is good and staff nice.

It has alot going for it but could be lovely with a bit more effort.

We Checked in all the staff were extremely friendly but when we got to the room we were slightly dissapointed the decore was in need of seriously being updated, the rooms were dirty, it was very late so we just wanted to go to bed. We woke up in the morning to an appauling breakfast served by staff that could hardly comunicate with us. After breakfast we went to our room to get ready we were supposed to be meeting our daughter for lunch at one oclock. We were ready at 12 and decided to look around the hotel when we discovered the stables pub. As we entered we were greeted by a lovely young man named chris he served us at the bar and was very friendly and he helped us out with some directions. As chris had been so nice to us and we thought the stables was lovely we decided tomeet our daughter there and have our lunch. I was seriously dissapointed with weetwood hall hotel but delighted with the stables.
