“Nightmare!!”

Ibis Leeds Centre

23 Jun 2008

To start with, crossing the road from the car park to the hotel was an absolute nightmare, you're literally dicing with death its so busy! We were in a group of girls, staying in Leeds for a birthday night out. The hotel wasn't particularly busy but trying to get something to eat at tea time proved to be a nightmare. There didn't seem to be much of a choice in food, and they still managed to get our orders wrong!! They ran out of jacket potatoes so people had to make alternative choices. It took around 2 hours to get a group of around 14 fed!! One of the lifts then got stuck, a number of girls from our party were trapped for over an hour! The rooms were clean but very basic.
After a night out we returned to the hotel around 1am to enjoy drinks in the bar, only to find the bar closed at 2am!! We then asked if we could drink our own alcohol and were told we could. After getting our alcohol from our car we were then told we couldn't drink it downstairs in the bar but had to take it to our room. Wouldnt have been a problem but they would only allow 2 people into a room, not much use when you have a large party of girls!!!!
Breakfast the next morning was a complete disappointment. No traditional english breakfast. The usual cereal and toast, or sausages, a small circular omellette looking thing and what looked like half a spring roll with a mushed up breakfast concoction inside it!!! And all for the extortionate price of £6.10!! Needless to say we didnt pay for it!! Would not want to stay in this hotel again!

“Will not be staying again!”

Ibis Leeds Centre

13 May 2008

On arriving at the hotel I was ignored by the reception staff - one was too busy flirting with a bunch of lads and the other was busy pretending she was busy. When one of them finally did come over she went to serve the person in the queue behind me!

Hotel reception was nice enough but very odd, dark lighting and not a friendly atmosphere.

The room I stayed in smelt like it had not been aired in months and had not been cleaned properly, also found stains on the supposedly clean towels! Black marks and on the walls and a very nice patchwork bit of wallpaper.

As if it couldn't get any worse found cigarette burns on the quilt cover.

Just to finish off my lovely stay, (after changing rooms) I was disturbed at 10:00am by a very loud knock, followed by 'house-keeping, house-keeping' even though it was 2 hours away from check out time.

“Decent hotel, not keen on the location”

This hotel is like every other Ibis hotel - it's good value and clean but basic and without many amenities.

The room was fine if a little noisy and everything was as you would expect. The hotel has a small bar area which also serves food but it's not exactly brimming with atmosphere.

The main problem with this particular Ibis, from my point of view as a solo female traveller, is the location. It is a 10 minute walk from the railway station and 15 minutes from the main shopping area. Not a problem during the day but it's location isn't condusive to going out at night on your own. There is very little else in the area apart from other budget hotels, so once you've arrived you're a bit stuck there.

Overall the hotel is fine for the money but I wouldn't stop here again due to the location.

My husband and I stayed at the Ibis Leeds for a shopping weekend in Febuary, its just a few minutes walk into the city centre, there is a public car park across the road arriving about 12pm on a Saturday carparking only cost £3.70 for the rest of the stay (Sunday free Parking) which was a bargain.
TGI Fridays is just over the road and 2 Casinos close by.
We stayed on floor 9 our room was very clean with nice flat screen TV, very nice bathroom with funky basin & wall hung loo - had no bath but gorgeous walk in power shower with room for two! The decor in the room was a bit bland and basic but for the price you cant grumble.
The hotel bar was nice but cant comment on the food as we never ate in the hotel.

Me and a few friends stayed at this hotel as a base for a music festival we were attending. At just £50 for a room (no breakfast), I was expecting a bed and that was about it.

Anyway as soon as we arrived we were greeted by a friendly receptionist, who sorted us out.

So our room was on the 11th floor, room consisted of small bed which was quite firm, however we slept on it fine (better than expected actually), tea/coffee make facilities, small window, air conditioning, TV. Everything we could need!!

Bathroom was a reasonable size, no bath but the shower was fantastic, good power shower again not expected, shower was also a good size!! Few bars of soap no shampoo/conditioner.

All staff we encounter were friendly and I personally can't complain about anything!!

As for it's location unfortunately I can't really offer any helpful information, as we were using the hotel as a base for a festival at the Uni (which was 10 mins walk away).

Other useful info, parking is across the road, £3.50 for 24 hours bargain! Check in seemed to be at any time, which was odd, we checked in about 11:00 and check out at 12:00!!

    • Disliked — Breakfast not included, but at £6.00 for all you can eat, not really a complaint!!
