I stayed for four nights, on a busienss trip.

I am not usually enthused with English hotels; I find most of them rather rundown, and the musty odour is rather offputting.

But the Berystede was quite nice. It is very English: flowery carpets, flowery curtains, flowery decor - heavy, but alright.

The grounds are large and pleasant, and the wifi is available outside (close to the hotel - I did not test further though).

The room was comfortable, and quiet (I have had bad experiences with noisy ventilation). The bathroom was a little small though; the door opens against the bath. It would be impossible to create a smaller bathroom!

The location is in posh Ascot; leafy place, with many posh houses. The roads were surprisingly quiet.

Sunngdale is within walking distance (10 minutes): three restaurants and a newsagents. No newspapers on sale at the hotel.

I did not try the swimming pools or the gym (the gym looked well appointed).

We stayed at the berystede for 1 night during a 2 day visit to legoland windsor.
Firstly ample parking.
The man at reception was very plesant indeed and friendly and made us very welcome, giving the children a lego toy each which won them over!!
The rooms were very good sizes, and were nicely decorated, the childrens beds had a fun bubblebath animal and an activity kit on them which once again went down well with them.
There were tea and coffee making facilities in the room together with mineral waters which were complimentary.
The bathroom was not huge but ample for us, you are provided with complimentary toilteries
The bar was very nice and also quiet, we had martini cocktails and they were made there and then and cost £7.50.
The swimming pool and hot spa were lovely and not busy at all there are time slots when children can use it and when they can not check with reception.
The breakfast was lovely a wide selection of juices, breads and pastries, cereals, yoghurts, fruit and you can chose from a cooked english breakfast bacon, sausage, eggs, beans, tomatos, mushroom, black pudding or haddock and poached egg and some other hot choices so you can start the day with a really good meal.
Check out is by 11am.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend this hotel.

This is a review of the Vital spa at the Berystede and in no way refers to anything within the hotel iteself.

I have been a member of the Vital Spa at the Berystede since it first opened on 01/04/2006. My husband and I left another much bigger gym because there were too many people, too many children (we do not have any children of our own at this point in time) and because we were looking for something more tranquil.

We joined Vital (they have a gym & spa which is perfect for us) with agreement from management that there would never be more than 750 members (which I though was quite a lot considering the size of the facilities). In addition any hotel guests also have full use of the facilities. We took gym membership as well as spa membership, paying £135 each a month.

The last couple of months everything (the gym & spa) became really busy, which lead me to enquire how many members there are. I was told that there were 900 and they are still recruiting!

Other points:
- From the beginning there were problems (still ongoing) with the steam room and salt room.
- In the evening from about 18:00 onwards towels start heaping up in the ladies' bathroom, only to be removed the next morning. This still continues, even after various members complained
- The showers and other areas smell 'off' on occasion
- The hotel guests are often extremely loud in the spa area, yet no Quiet signs have been put up.

After pointing all this out to management, I received no response, and as a result will now take my business elsewhere.

If you are looking for a place to exercise, relax and just let all your worries flow away, this is certainly not it. Everything here is about money.
