Stayed for 2 nights on 5 and 6 July for business and was truelly surprised by this hotel. Getting decent hotels in the UK is difficult at the best of times. This one however I need to give credit where credit is due.
Location: Slap bang in middle of Windsor high street, ideal touring the castle/river etc.
Rooms: Very good, clearly been refurbished recently, beds very comfortable. The twin room we had was a bit small as was the bathroom but it was very clean and modern. Nice touch was free ice being delivered when asked, no hassles and very prompt service.
Internet: Free use in the business cenrre, which was handy.
Food: I'm generally not a fan of hotel restaurants as they're overpriced and bland. However this one did surprise me it was really really good. Great choice, fantastic value and fantastically prepared and presented. I honestly couldn't fault it. The bread was great and that's usually a decent indication of the rest of the meal. Both the set and a la carte menus were good. We arrived about 8pm on a Friday night had a quick wander down Windsor high street and saw lots of restaurants but we returned to the hotel restaurant and we were really glad we did.
Breakfast was fine, very good selection.
Staff: All the staff were very very good, all very helpful and friendly.
Bar/lounge: Both seemed very nice, warm and welcoming.
Minor Negatives/Tips:
Car parking although it doesn't look it, there are plenty of hotel car parking spaces, although if there is an event on in the bangquet area I 'd suggest getting back to he hotel before 7pm to guarantee a space.
Some of the rooms are in an annexe, which is literally 5 feet from the main hotel and has a glass walkway if you need to use it, those with walking/mobility problems are best to double check with the hotel whether they are in the annexe.I'm sure there's probably a lift but worth double checking.
However these are very minor points compared to how good the hotel was. In addition it was very reasonably priced in fact for Windsor I would describe it as a bargain given the quality of our stay. Uk hotels are often very patchy in terms of standards and value, however this one surprisely surpased my expectations and that always makes a stay even better.
Final tip: I also had coffee & sandwiches at the Runneymede Hotel in Egham which I noticed had lots of tourists in it due to Heathrow being very close. I thought the food and service at the Runneymede hotel were poor compared to this Windsor hotel and both are only about 10-15 mins apart by car. Personally if I were visitng I'd rather stay in Windsor than the Runneymede which is overhyped and overpriced from what I experienced.
