“Very comfortable and well appointed.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 April 2010

Stayed here for 5 days with wife, daughter, son in law and 2 children aged 1 and a 1/2 and 3. The cottage is situated in a cluster of houses and is quite isolated and a car is almost essential as ther are no facilities within walking distance. The cottage is large and the rooms are spacious with everything spotless and with toilets and showers up and down stairs. There is a bath on the upper floor with the shower. The kitchen has just about everything apart from a sharp knife (we ate in most days). Fridge/freezer, dish washer, medium size oven, microwave etc. Main room was ample for all of us and there was a plentiful supply of toys for the children and books/dvds etc for the adults. The bedrooms were quite cosy and the beds wre to our liking (quite soft). There was a wood fire that we used most evenings but the house has good central heating for its main warmth. We did have 2 days without central heating as over easter the supplyers failed to fill us up and that was cold for me. There is an immersion so we did have hot water and the wood fire came into its own. The town is about a 10 minute drive away and has everything. As the cottage is at the end of a narrow driveway it is essential that you can reverse for about 50mts to park outside the cottage. There is space for 2 cars outside.

“JUST LOVELY”

Six of us stayed in the larger cottage for a week: 3 teenagers, 2 parents and a grandma. It was amply big enough for us all and was very comfortable and extremely well equipped. Helen and Allen gave us such a warm welcome and were so informative and helpful in all respects. We chose the cottage mainly as a base for mountain bikng in the Rheola Forest which was 10 miles away but found it to be also ideally located to explore Swansea , the Gower and beyond. A real gem of a trip out was the Botanic Gardens of Wales only half an hour's drive away. We came away thinking the region as a whole was very underrated and very much look forward to returning.

“Really lovely cottage - peaceful & beautiful location”

We stayed in the smaller of the two cottages and we were so impressed that we will definitely return! The Cottages are located in a really small village (no pubs or shops) which suited us as we wanted peace and quiet. There are shops and pubs in a nearby town so that was no problem. The owners live just down the lane so they are nearby in case of a query. We were really touched by how friendly they were and Helen had even baked us a delicious cake to welcome us! The Cottage is very comfortable and a lot of thought has gone into making it a real 'home from home'. Although the village is off the beaten track it is actually a short drive away from Swansea and the Brecon Beacons so it is ideal base for anyone who wants to see some of the beautiful sights of South Wales. We especially loved the waterfalls at Aberdulais.
