What a wonderful little guest house it is!
Beginning with parking and were were able to park right outside (on the other side of the road) but this meant that we could come and go so easily with no parking restrictions or money needed - a definite plus.
We booked our stay a month or so in advance - and it lived up to everything we hoped it would be. The room was number 2 on the ground floor and was luxuriously furnished and had the softest king size bed I have ever slept in, a big plus was the big comfy pillows - so nice. Our bathroom was clean and very pretty, with complimentary toiletries of hand soap, hand cream, show gel and shampoo (they were superb). Plenty of towels so no need to ask for any more which is a plus in my book. Leading out from our room was a little patio (the doors were covered but gorgeous lace curtains and a blind) which had a table and chairs and would of been perfect to sit in if only the weather had been better! Next time for sure.
We arrived earlier than check in but were welcomed and shown straight to our room by the lovely manager Brian and shown where everything was and how to work anything we were unsure of, we were also told to make the most of the free WiFi that was available and given the passwords. After a few laughs with him we were left to get unpacked. There was plenty of storage for hanging items and chests of drawers for other bits and bobs. There was a flat screen TV with built in free-view (with signal!) and built in DVD player which was a welcome surprise for me as I struggle to get to sleep.
We were then greeted by Maria (owner) who was very polite and hoped our stay would be a good one, and also very helpful with how to get into Cardiff. We ventured to town and were happy with the description we had been given that it was only a 10 minute walk - it really was and beautiful.
We had a lovely comfy nights sleep and woke up feeling relaxed and happy (how could you not in that bed!) and headed to the dinning room fro breakfast where a full continental breakfast (included in the price and all you can eat) was laid out with fresh juices, cereals, croissants, muffins, yoghurt, toast, fresh fruit and as much tea and coffee as we could drink. There was also a menu from which you could order a cooked breakfast at a small extra charge - we did - and it didn't disappoint, a full welsh breakfast, perfectly cooked by the male manager James. There was a large TV on the wall which was nice and the tables, chairs and place settings were lovely also.
Before we left we had lovely conversations with the owners and manager who were so happy and warm towards us.
We have already planned that we want to return as soon as we can as it really was wonderful.
Huge thanks to the staff/owners of Dexby Town House - we will see you again very soon!
