Stayed here on a Saturday night - somewhat of a mistake. The rooms have bad soundproofing and the television from next door was clearly audible. Worse, however, was the pounding disco from the wedding, which went on until gone 1am. The receptionist said he would try to get it turned down, but in fact the volume level rose.

Won't be staying here again. The high level of noise is unacceptable for the price.

Firstly the preferential rates I was apparently getting from the hotel turned out to be £10/day more than if I booked via the web.
The hotel advised this is because I booked via the website which operates independently of the hotel. I didn't understand that rationale either. It's their hotel, their website ... don't they have control. The booking service is also independent as they ask which hotel so there is no difference.
I spent two nights with kids running up and down the corridor. The parents apparently enjoying a drink (no doubt quiet) in the bar. I rang reception staff on the second night and asked they do something as it was 10.30. I rang again at 11.15 and was advised the parents had been informed. Shortly after the parents returned and then banged on the door as the children wouldn't open it ... another 15 minutes passed by.
The corridor where I was had moving noisy floorboards which meant the bedroom door shook everytime someone walked by. You do get used to it but at the price why would you?
I was in a room that was not served by a lift. I did not know at booking at the desk and no help with my belongings was offered or available
Add to that if you are arrving early evening the car park near the hotel is full as those using the gym facilities are there so you will have a good walk with your case!
Breakfast starts at 7am and they are not ready at 7 am. You stand waiting to get into the restaurant, when you get shown to your table you find jugs have yet to have milk put in etc etc
I couldn't get a bar meal any of the four nights I was there as there was no where to sit
You may ask why I didn't check out. Believe I came very close but as I am on the road from 7.30 to 8/9pm the last thing I needed was to gather my belongings and find somewhere else and that is the only reason they stayed.
I was planning to stay there for several weeks but have cancelled subsequent bookings. At no time was I asked if I was happy with my stay ie not at check out nor when I cancelled further reservations.
Unless you want the gym... I strongly suggest you find somewhere else. This is a lot of money for nothing out of the ordinary - don't be like me and believe what they say about themselves.

I stayed here for 2 months on secondment for work. I found the staff here at the hotel made my stay. I found through the week alot of business people stayed. At times i found the rooms needed a good clean.

The are 3 places to eat here, restuarant, pub and cafe. The breakfast is very a good start to the day lots of choice. The pub and restuarant are ok , were slightly limited. I did get seabass once which i felt had just been put on the plate and no real thought gone into the food or prepartion if your looking for a quick meal the pub is the best bet. The restuarant did change the menu once in the 2 months I was there. I found the gym cafe ok for a light snack but could have provided more heathly choices.

The gym facitlies are excellent. The swimming pool is a good size so take you swimming costume. The gym is big with a lot of machines. There are lots of different classes to choose from.

Cardiff city centre is only 15 mins cab ride and about £10. Asda is quick walk from the hotel if you have forgotten anything. The is a village near the hotel which has a few lovely restuarants. That is worth visiting rather than the restaurant in the hotel.

I was booked into this hotel by my Company for just one night's stay whilst on a business trip. I have stayed at other Village hotels and expected this one to be the same. The reception staff were friendly enough. The room was small but i thougt no problem - it just for on night for one person. I noticed a used elastoplast in the shape of a big toe underneath the dressing table area which the cleaner had missed. I decided to take a nice soak in the bath which I shared with a pubic hair or two!! I later ventured down to dinner, having reserved a tabel for one, and because I was a lady on her own was placed in a corner out of sight. Dinner was nothing special and I had to send my Irish coffee back because it was lukewarm. The final straw came at breakfast with a lovely thick dark hair in my scrambled egg - lovely!!

We stayed here for one night whilst visiting friends in Cardiff. On checking into our room, we noticed the room smelt a bit odd but didnt think much of it and just opened the window.
The bathroom was FILTHY, it had body hair and toenail clippings all over the floor and bottom of the bath, there were also dirty footprints on the bathroom floor. The was also coffee all down one of the shower walls and the door frame and even some on the ceiling! The toilet roll had run out and not been replaced and it was clear that the bathroom had not been cleaned at all since the last guest.

After discovering this, we decided to check the bed...there was body hair of two different colours in the bed and also some unidentified stains on the sheets. There was also makeup on one of the pilowcases.
To add to all this we were in a room directly above the function room where a wedding was being held, it was so loud we could hear the speeches!!

At this point we complain to rececption, the lady working there was the hotel's only saving grace!! She was very helpful and apologetic and tried to move us to another room but as they were fully booked she arranged to have the room cleaned for us..

While this was happening we had a meal in the 'verve grill' the hotels restaurant, which was awful!! Had to send the meal back as my prawns were served raw and my well done steak was bought to me rare.

Apart from the one very helpful receptionist, our experience of this hotel was awful, and wouldnt reccomend anyone to stay there.
