On arrival hotel presented well. Excellent location. Clean and comfortable however the accumulation of minor problems let this hotel down. If situated at the front of the hotel extremely noisy night life to be heard, no air conditioning therfore window had to be left slightly open, overhead fan in room noisy. Kettle blew up on our last morning. Broken glass in lift. When ordering a drink at the bar prominent lipstick marks on glass, very nice bar staff apologized however five other glasses had to be put aside due to lip stick staining which did put you off slightly. Food lovely although not too much choice for pudding. On our first morning three buckets placed on the floor in dining area due to a leak!!!! Reception staff friendly and housekeeper on third floor very helpfull when we couldnt get into our room. Despite negativities described above the hotel provided us with a pleasent stay but there is room for improvement.

I stay in Hotels at least 2 or 3 times per week and have to say that this is the worst Hotel I have experienced. I checked in for 2 nights in Sep 2006 to attend a conference. On arrival, I parked my car in the Hotel car park which has CCTV and a control exit barrier (I'll come back to this). I was informed that I had been given an upgrade to an executive room and on entering the room it was filthy, carpet had not been hoovered, dust everywhere, paint flaking off the ceiling and I found a hair on the bed sheets. I summoned the manager to the room and showed him this and ended up getting the choice of three rooms which were clean although all in desperate need of refurbishment. I was offered a drink from the bar as compensation.

The food was very bland and not to be recommended. On my second day, the Hotel informed me that my car had been broken into at the Hotel car Park. A brick had been thrown through the drivers window and property stolen from it. The Hotel took no responsibility or liability and their only concern was to clean the glass from the ground so no one else would see it. I was offered no help to clean the glass from my car and i was charged £6.50 for using their car park. I would suggest you consider the Park Plaza Hotel across the road which is by far a better Hotel.

This is a tired Hotel and the staff are just kids. I suspect there is alot of car crime in the Hotel car park so be warned. Apart from that everything was fine!!

Having seen some reviews we wondered if it would be good. We had a very good quiet room. The hotel was very quiet (summer holidays), and breakfast was good. Our summer tariff (69 pounds for 2) including breakfast and was very good value. Staff were good - though reception was a little dis-organised.

I recently booked this hotel on one of the busiest days of the month and was lucky to find a room at a rate of £100 on a room only basis (which wasn't too bad including the hotel are offering a 2 for 1 breakfast offer). The hotel itself is beautiful on the outside but a bit old looking inside. However, as I understood the hotel is under major refubishment. The restaurant looks gorgeous and staff were friendly. I would stay at this hotel again on the basis that this hotel has the best staff and the service standards are excellent.
