This was my second visit to the hotel, and my first whilst on business in Cardiff.

I can do nothing but agree with all the previous comments about the excellent rooms, great health club facilities, and high quality restaurant. The hotel also provides fee internet access which is also excellent and very much appreciated when away on business.

However, the major downside is that the hotel charges an additional fee for settling your account via credit card. Having complained to the hotel they tell me that this is to meet the high costs imposed by the banks for processing credit card payments. Unfortunatly they appear to be in a large minority as I have yet to come across any other hotel in the country that makes such a charge. Certainly the major chains such as IHG, Hilton, Marriott etc do not levy such a charge.

The hotel also see's fit to add a £1 onto your bill as a charity donation. I was not told about this upon checking in, and whilst I have no issue with charities, I certainly resent being pressurised into giving.

Finally, the car park is an extortionate £8 per night, which does not compare at all favourably with any other Cardiff hotels.

It is such a shame to have to write such a negative review about such a fantastic hotel, however the greed and inappropriate charges are nothing but an additional way of extracting money from the consumer. It's almost as if Thénardier is running the place, and looking to make an extra sous or two!

Lovely rooms with great facilities in the capital of wales! Ironing board, trouser press, corkscrew, great hot drinks, water, letter writing set. Everything you need, all there. Will definitely stay again.

My young daughter and I have just returned from a 3 night stay at Holland House Hotel, Cardiff and thoroughly enjoyed our visit. We stayed in a standard room on the 9th floor which was spotlessly clean, pleasantly decorated and very quiet.
Breakfast is buffet service with lots of choice and at 9.00 am was quiet with quick, attentive service.
The pool is small with a depth of 1.2m which was very suitable for children, but easily deep enough for a swim, mid afternoon seemed a good time to find it quiet - take shampoo from your room as we couldn't find any provided.
We only ate in the restaurant on one of the evenings, as Cardiff has so much to offer, but we had a delicious meal, again with excellent service. Although the restaurant has 2 AA rosettes they were still very welcoming to children with a very reasonably priced (and quite healthy - no nuggets!) children's menu with choices of main and dessert plus a drink included.
The concierge service was excellent and they helped us to find our way around Cardiff, with a few handy hints to make the most of the places we had chosen to visit (both the National Museum and Technoquest are excellent) and to find a really beautiful beach to visit on our way home. All in all an EXCELLENT hotel.

“What a (re)view....!!”

Booked for a midweek stay for 1 night - loved it! Booked a Superior room, given 1 on the 14th (top) floor and what a view! Overlooked all of Cardiff and because the room (No. 1411) was on a corner, had 2 separate views. The room contained a Kings-size+ bed, desk, multimedia suite and a 32" LCD TV/Monitor. Shower was piping hot and room was very smart and clean, large and L-shaped. Breakfast was included in the price, and was comprehensive, consisting of a cold and hot buffet with as much as you could eat, and good quality. Staff were all quick and helpful, albeit from a cosmopolitan background - not a Welsh-speaker amongst them!! Car parking, whilst secure in the basement, is an annoying extra at £8 per day

Travelled to Cardiff in November last year with group of Spanish friends. We had an excellent welcome. It is a definite advantage that the hotel is at the end of Queen St. A pedestrianised street with the Castle at the other end. The ladies could venture out, without getting lost. (They don't speak English) We were given excellent advice and places to visit from the head concierge Colin Keane, and all staff went out of their way to help. We have a trip to the UK every year, and Cardiff is currently our number 1.
