“Great Location, odd attitude towards guests?”

Jolyon's Boutique Hotel

If you use the minute and poorly laid out hotel parking lot you have to lug your bags down slippery stairs into the basement, through the bar and up a narrow staircase to the hall. Staff seemed vaguely surprised to see guests and there was little welcome, only a sense of having inconvenienced the management. The bar is the only real place to sit. It is dark, and rather dingy and tired looking, but has a friendly host and hostess. Rooms are pleasant but there is no house phone for outgoing calls and there are no phones in the rooms.
Quirky, yes and maybe charming on a good day. Definitely not a place for business travellers but connoisseurs of Fawlty Towers may feel right at home. I would not call this a boutique hotel. It feels like a an old bed and breakfast that has been imaginatively renovated with a bar/ breakfast room in the basement but where the management then lost interest. The location directly across from the Millenium Centre is great.

JOlyons is a great place to go for a little get away I booked the hotel to get away from the day to day grey days. We had a room with a lovely Big dutch bed. My wife now is nagging me for to buy one,

We spent time in the basement bar chic and fun. JOlyon organised a table for us to eat across the road a great find in the new millenium centre( Braz) After a fun night spent with my wife we relaxed and started getting to talk about fun things. Ie not school uniforms.

Lets just say my wife is back on track with me and I have gained a few browny points

Coming back soon

My girlfriend phoned the hotel and was greeted with a wonderful warm welcome by an italian lady. When we arrived at the hotel it was exactly what we wanted small freindly and slightly quirky.

The concert we went to was in the point a venue 5 mins from the hotel. HOw good is that????

We will be back especially with the breakfast we had. they even remembered we needed soya milk. JOlyon the owners friend brought some mushrooms hand picked from west wales so he served them for us in the cooked breakfast.

We and all our mates are booking the hotel as soon as we can for the next concert

Ps the jcb tune was great!!

“small cute”

A very small noted needed this place is cute sexy charming like the owner but he is tall and fluffy. We came down to a concert in the point and found this little hotel such a change from the normal unfriendly place. The review I have just read above is true it is small but so big in charm.
