Superb value for a couple of nights when in Cardiff for the World Cup Rugby in the Millenium Stadium. Although this hotel is 11km from the city centre the hotel staff lay on local transport, in this case mini buses, every 30 mins at £5 a head - cheaper than doing it yourself on public transport.
The hotel itself was clean, modern and quiet - no aircraft noise at all. Excellent breakfast buffet (although no bacon and eggs) fairly substantial and as much as you liked. Ample free car parking.
The big plus at this hotel were the staff, friendly, helpful and exceptionally informative. We have stayed at hotels 3 times the price this year and been treated with complete rudeness and indifference, so this made our weekend.
We didn't actually use the bar but only because we were so tired both nights, it looked very comfortable with its openplan layout.
If you are travelling to Cardiff for a sports event or concert this hotel would be hard to beat for value and comfort.
We booked through Superbreaks.com for 2 nights as were unable to find a single hotel room in Cardiff for 1 night. It cost us total of £120 for the 2 nights inclusive for 2 people and breakfast. Like everyone we like to feel we are getting a bargain, so were pleased to note the 1 night rate was £110 on the evening we arrived - although it looked like they were fully booked in any case.
If I had to find one niggle and it's a tiny one - the breakfast tables needed to be cleared just a little faster, but it gets done and with a smile.
Hotel not easy to find, even with satnav, but worth the slight detour round the airport perimeter.
We would have absolutely no hesitation in staying here again.

We stayed at the Holiday Inn Express at Cardiff Airport as we had an early flight the following morning. We booked a week's parking at Airparks (5 mns up road) and a night at the Holiday Inn for £90. Bargain! We also found out that you can park at the Holiday Inn Express but you need to arrange that when you book.
Great hotel. Very clean and helpful staff. We had a triple room and our 3 year old was very comfortable. You can eat at the hotel but we drove to Cardiff Bay and went to Pizza Express. Breakfast looked nice at the hotel but it was too early for us! They run a free bus to the airport. I like Holiday Inn Express hotels. Clean and good value.

I have to visit Cardiff quite often with my work. The top hotels in Cardiff city centre are of very good quality, but are very pricey. The cheaper hotels are a bit so-so, and parking can be a problem. The Express by Holiday Inn at Cardiff Wales Airport is a new, clean, well presented hotel, at a very reasonable price. Despite being next to the airport, there is no bother with noise.

The staff at the hotel are very good, and "go the extra mile" to be helpful.

The journey from the hotel to Cardiff centre obviously varies according to time of day / traffic conditions, but should only take about half an hour.

Parking is free and easy, and the hotel has really cheap "stay / park / fly" options.

If being out of Cardiff centre is not a problem, then seriously consider staying here.

we've stayed in a lot of hotels recently and a lot of holiday inns. this is quite simply the best yet. ok the rooms are rooms and the breakfast is breakfast but what makes this place special is the staff. every one of them was helpful, pleasant and cheerful and nothing was too much trouble.

the rooms are a bit larger than normal and they have a fanastic aircondition/heating system. you cannot open the window but this heating system enables you to be very comfortable. the reason you cannot open the room is because of the sound proofing. this is the first time i have stayed next to an airport but you could hardly hear the planes at all, and i am a light sleeper.

the breakfast on the sunday was better than those i've experienced at holiday inn express. one of the impressive things is they serve it from 4 - 10!!!

it is a distance from cardiff - i would say about 30 minute drive but it is only a couple of minutes from the coast and barry island.
