Beverly and Alan took great care of us while were at Greenbrae. They have recently bought the property, and have kept up the good service and comfort that I read in the reviews of the previous owners.
As Alan and Beverly have only been operating the B&B over the past few months, they are currently putting work into the outside of the 130-year old farmhouse, and have many plans for how to further develop the site. In the meantime, however, the inside of Greenbrae is already luxurious. We had a spacious double room, with a large dresser and cupboard. The bathroom had both a shower and a bathtub. The rooms are beautiful, and the bed was the most comfortable thing I have slept in for a long time.
We were well looked after, and felt like we were the only guests present, even when I knew there were other people around. With books, DVDs, and local area guides, Beverly and Alan want to make sure the guests have everything we need.
They have a few growing pains yet, for example, there may be workers around until the B&B is finished, although the noise was not too bad, Also, until Alan set up a booster for the internet, the wireless service was shaky. These are things, though, that will get sorted out as the B&B continues to operate.
Being a converted farmhouse, the B&B is in the middle of fields, very pleasant and quiet. A mile away in Longside is a bus stop with connections in Mintlaw to Peterhead and Aberdeen. If you do not mind a bit of walking, or if you are driving or on bicycles, Aberdeenshire is easily accessible from here. If you are on foot, there is also a small shop to buy food in Longside. Any restaurants or take-away places, though, are a bus ride away in Mintlaw.
I highly recommend Greenbrae, and will gladly stay there again the next time I am in the area.
