What can I say?

I spent one night at Peebles this February on my way north to the Cairngorms. This is still my favourite hotel, I have stayed here four times now. The service and food is incredible. If only the rooms were modernised and included things such as mini bars, satellite tv etc., this hotel would surely be ugraded to five star. As it is, I can't believe it has only recently been made four star. The staff all seem intent on one thing - Pampering their guests. No where else have I seen so many staff, all appearing to be happy to serve and more importantly, happy to be there themselves. Twice I have filled in customer comments forms and twice the manager has written back, the letter arriving home before I did! The management team need to be congratulated on the friendly but professional attitude of their staff and the warm and positive energy this creates in the hotel itself. No wonder it is difficult to get a room here, but it is worth the effort.

The Hydro is an excellent hotel with aspects of a bygone era still in evidence, eg jacket and tie for males expected at dinner, combined with all that one expects from a modern hotel.

Service is efficient in all areas and there is a high ratio of staff to guests. The dining experience is very good with local products to the fore on the menus. Breakfast, lunch and dinner were all very good eating experiences, whether in the dining room or in the bistro restaurant.

I stayed in a suite with my wife and daughter which was both comfortable and spacious although could have done with some repainting and freshening.

The location can hardly be bettered and the views from the front of the hotel are breath taking.

The leisure facilities are also first class and there is a child friendly approach as well.

The hotel charges a rate that is value for money and I am sure that other members would find it a most rewarding place to stay.

Had a great 2 night stay here, everything was excellent. Food, rooms, service, fabulous pool & jacuzzi & some pampering in the beauty salon made it perfect! Cannot recommend it highly enough.

Having just spent 5 nights at the Peebles Hydro Hotel, my wife & I cannot commend it Highly enough. It is rated 4 star, but should be a much higher grading

Having arrived the car park at the front of the Hotel was full, so both thinking the worst, ie there were going to be people & noise all over the place, How wrong we were!

Having made it through the revolving door, and looking at the flight of red carpetted stairs in front of a sense of relaxation & serenity descended on us.

Having booked in (a completey hassle free exercise), we were given a map of the Hotel, trust me this is very useful as the hotel is huge! we went exploring, via the sun lounge, gym, & since it was getting late we had lunch in Lazels restaurant, a big mstake. The food was superb, but with only a couple of hours before dinner I should have curbed my appetite.

We booked dinner for 8pm, so time to change & a drink from the well stocked bar, and sit in the sun lounge to watch the evening pass by.

On entering the dining room and being greeted by name, we were shown to our table, where there was a gentle hum of contentment. The service was superb & the dinner?, mere words can't do justice. 5 courses all freshly cooked & prepared. The staff are friendly & efficient.

Having slept dinner off, it was time for an early start, had to get some swimming & a sauna in before breakfast!

Superb food, excellent Service, Stunning scenery, in fact the only down side of this hotel is that you eventually have to leave, but then again if you didn't you couldn't plan another visit!
