“Once again, a brilliant night out!”

Once again, I went down to Dumfries for a night out with Robertson and Emma and a "rabble" of kilted guys - from such diverse places as Norway, Ireland, USA, Cumbria, and the borders. The hospitality as usual was marvellous, with a snifter of the amber nectar before setting out for a meal at a local restaurant, then around six pubs in Dumfries on a pub crawl. Despite the volume of whiskey intake, I had no problems sleeping and the beds are as comfortable as ever, the level of cleanliness is second to none and the breakfasts have to be experienced! I got to Dumfries in two hours flat by train from Edinburgh (with one change at Carlisle) and the front door of Ferintosh is opposite the front door of the station - convenience writ
in large letters.

I consider this my favourite B&b in the whole of Scotland (if not the UK) - it is not huge (only six bedrooms) but it is quirky, enjoyable and a real home from home by now. Robertson must be a local legend by now in Dumfries and does all he can to put it on the tourism map. A real gem.

Friendly, warm and inviting as well as clean from top to bottom. You couldn't ask for more in a B/B. Robertson and Emma are a delight and the town of Dumfries is charming. How could you not like an establishment inwhich the owner greets you while kilted and there is a "wee dram" waiting for you in your room?? We are going make this a "must see" for our friends and family when the are in Scotland.

Conveniently located across from the railway station, ample parking close by and a short stroll to the heart of the city.
From the warm and friendly welcome by Emma and Robertson to the clean, well-equipped rooms with single malt of the day, showers with excellent water pressure to an outstanding cooked breakfast: simply the best and most pleasing B&B I have had the pleasure to visit. I'll be back!

“THE Place to Stay in Robbie Burns Land”

Ferintosh Guest House

I had heard of Ferintosh from others who had stayed there and it lived up to our expectations and more. We did not have a car, but the Ferintosh is across the street from the train station.
It is also an easy 10 minute walk from downtown and the historic areas of Dumfries.

Emma and Robertson were welcoming, gracious, and very helpful.
They have put a lot of effort into making the public areas clean and well maintained. Our room was very nice, better than the other places we stayed on our trip.
They were kind enough to invite us along on an outing one day to a local castle which they had already planned to visit.

The breakfast was well prepared. Robertson gets his haggis from a local butcher and it was the best we had in Scotland.

We hope to get back there in the next year.

Tom and Vicki

I've been to Scotland before, but this was my first time to the Dumfries area. We book Ferintosh, and it really made the trip all the more enjoyable. The house is a quaint brick building run by a charming couple that goes out of their way to make you feel at home. Every morning, we were served a proper Scottish breakfast (made by a man in a kilt!) and every night, we'd come back to a clean and tidy room with a complimentary sample of Scotch whisky. Slightly eccentric, each room featured a different Scottish theme, and the house has a detailed history of its own.

And easy walk downtown, and right across the street from the train station, Ferintosh is the perfect place to stay while you visit the Dumfries area.
