Once again, I went down to Dumfries for a night out with Robertson and Emma and a "rabble" of kilted guys - from such diverse places as Norway, Ireland, USA, Cumbria, and the borders. The hospitality as usual was marvellous, with a snifter of the amber nectar before setting out for a meal at a local restaurant, then around six pubs in Dumfries on a pub crawl. Despite the volume of whiskey intake, I had no problems sleeping and the beds are as comfortable as ever, the level of cleanliness is second to none and the breakfasts have to be experienced! I got to Dumfries in two hours flat by train from Edinburgh (with one change at Carlisle) and the front door of Ferintosh is opposite the front door of the station - convenience writ
in large letters.
I consider this my favourite B&b in the whole of Scotland (if not the UK) - it is not huge (only six bedrooms) but it is quirky, enjoyable and a real home from home by now. Robertson must be a local legend by now in Dumfries and does all he can to put it on the tourism map. A real gem.
