We have just returned from a short stay at the Ferintosh Guest House - along with our three dogs. We had chosen Ferintosh initially because it was, indeed, dog-friendly. However, we were delighted to arrive to such a fantastic welcome. Robertson and Emma - Taffee and new arrival Riley - were extremely friendly; the accommodation was first-rate - elegant, charming, artistic - and spotlessly clean. We loved the "wee dram" - plus mutt chews & biccies in our room; a lovely touch we shan't forget. Robertson and Emma gave us HUGE amounts of information about places to eat, pubs to visit, tourist attractions and, most importantly, great walks in and around Dumfries. We can't finish this review without mentioning the breakfast...words are not adequate. You'd just have to go along and try it. We will definitely return.

Our stay at the Ferintosh Guest house was one I will never forget. The Hosts Robertson and Emma were kind and welcoming not only to us , but to all guests as we observed. Breakfast is hot , fresh, and delicious served with a friendly "Good Morning" and if wanted a little chat.
We will be back to Ferintosh again most definately.*****
Five Stars to Robertson and Emma . The puppys are also most loving and gentle.

This was one of the best vacations if not the best I have been on. And it was due to Emma and Robertson. Thier kindness, hospitality and generousity is unmatched. If you are considering Dumfries then the Ferintosh Guest House is your home away from home!

“Once again, a brilliant night out!”

Once again, I went down to Dumfries for a night out with Robertson and Emma and a "rabble" of kilted guys - from such diverse places as Norway, Ireland, USA, Cumbria, and the borders. The hospitality as usual was marvellous, with a snifter of the amber nectar before setting out for a meal at a local restaurant, then around six pubs in Dumfries on a pub crawl. Despite the volume of whiskey intake, I had no problems sleeping and the beds are as comfortable as ever, the level of cleanliness is second to none and the breakfasts have to be experienced! I got to Dumfries in two hours flat by train from Edinburgh (with one change at Carlisle) and the front door of Ferintosh is opposite the front door of the station - convenience writ
in large letters.

I consider this my favourite B&b in the whole of Scotland (if not the UK) - it is not huge (only six bedrooms) but it is quirky, enjoyable and a real home from home by now. Robertson must be a local legend by now in Dumfries and does all he can to put it on the tourism map. A real gem.

Friendly, warm and inviting as well as clean from top to bottom. You couldn't ask for more in a B/B. Robertson and Emma are a delight and the town of Dumfries is charming. How could you not like an establishment inwhich the owner greets you while kilted and there is a "wee dram" waiting for you in your room?? We are going make this a "must see" for our friends and family when the are in Scotland.
