Staying in the area for business, but looking forward to visiting in the Spring for a long leisurely weekend.
Staff very friendly and helpful, quite important as a woman travelling alone.
Ate in the Bistro which had a great atmosphere, certainly get the feeling that this is the place to be in town, judging by the number of locals who were in.
Food very nicely presented, large portions and staff knowledgeable about the dishes. The blue cheese ice cream is to die for! Think they should make this availabe as a takeaway option.
My room was very nice (No 20 overlooking the garden) and advised that they are doing up all of the rooms in the next few months.
Excellent value for money.

My mother wanted to visit Kirkudbright as it is Scotland's 'Artist Town' to look around the galleries. She was really surprised at how nice the town is, Broughton House (where the artist Hornel lived and worked) is just lovely. And, its just round the corner from the Selkirk Arms which is a total 'gem'. The food is excellent, the rooms are comfortable, homely and art adorns the walls throughout. We had a perfect holiday in the perfect Hotel. The food here must have always been nice as it is apparently the place where Robert Burns wrote the famous verse known as the 'Selkirk Grace'

We have just stayed at the hotel as part of a 60th wedding anniversary party. From the moment we arrived the staff were so welcoming, friendly and helpful. The food was beautifully presented and tasted great. There was a good selection of steaks and fish on the menu and the portions were very generous. (sticky toffee pudding to die for) Our room was clean and tidy and felt very homely. Would recommend a stay.
