Enjoyed our overnight stay in the hotel we had dinner in the restaurant and could not fault anything if anything the portions were huge and great value, the staff were very attentive and friendly. Would consider booking again when the weather was better. janette & Ian Sneddon

Gillian and I arived at the Selkirk arms hotel, after a days mountain biking in glen trool. We were tired and with dirty bikes. The manager was excellent, he gave us a great room, and offered us a safe place to store the bikes. We stayed for the weekend, and eat in the hotel at night, where the food was brilliant. The breakfasts were superb as well. Absolutley no complaints whatsoever. Highly recommended.

My sister and I really enjoyed our short stay in this very friendly hotel . My sister is disabled and the staff couldn't have been more helpful . The rooms were spacious and attractive .The food was of a high standard and it was very pleasant to just walk out of our rooms in the old cottage part of the hotel and sit on the lawn and have morning coffee or before dinner drinks .

We really expected a lot more with the money we spent on this room, especially considering it was the off or slow season. The room was small, dark and not particularly clean. The staff was not very plesant and the hotel seemed riduclously overstaffed for the hand full of people staying there.

Due to the fact so many things were closed in town including the two 'good' restaurants we ate dinner at the hotel. That was a mistake, we would have been better off getting snacks from the grocery around the corner.

I'd reccomend staying in Dumfries and making Kirkcudbright a side trip, and definately avoid this hotel. It needs an overall upgrade on bedding, linens, wallpaper, etc. and on attitude.
