Anyone interested in good food should make a stop over here when visiting the Dumfries area. The six course meal, which comprised Carrot and Apricot Soup, Griddled Marinated Salmon on a bed of pasta, Fillet of Venison with red cabbage, new potatoes and parsnip crisps, a selection of interesting cheeses and Lemon tart with vanilla and butterscotch sauce (which was to die for!), coffee and sweetmeats, was superb. Fantastic food in very comfortable surroundings, this jewel of a small hotel in Moffat is well worth a visit for those looking fine dining. The Well View Hotel is owned by John and Janet Schuckardt - Chef/Proprietor Janet Schuckardt is one of the Chef Trainers for the Natural Cooking of Scotland as well as a Member of the Scottish Chef's Association. John Schuckardt is a Fellow of the Academy of Food and Wine Service and has drawn up an extensive wine list to complement his wife's Cuisine. Dinner was an amazing £30.00 per head.
