I visited the Piperdam resort in Nov 2011, staying in the Eagle Executive. It was a special celebration and we wanted to spash out. This resort & lodge is advertised as "Luxury" and we paid £1400 for the weekend.
On arrival we faced problems, the Lodge was clean and does have the wow factor but unfortunately we faced a myriad of problems. One of the five on-suite toilets worked. We only discovered this AFTER use!. We phoned reception (you have to use your mobile phone as no in house phone) a plumber arrived prompty but could not fix it until the morning. This left us 15 hours with one toilet & four blocked toliets. This was not pleasant. We complained but there was no management on site util Monday am. We were assured our complain would be dealt with.
We also woke at 6am our first morning to a flooded kitchen, again we phoned reception on our mobile and a house keeper arrived. They said the seal was not fitted and the plasitc strip was under the sink. I would not expect a "luxury resort" to expect guests paying a permuim to fit a dishwasher sea or spend an hour early morning cleaning up litres of waterl!
The tumble dryer did not work unless you held the door shut yourself! The toaster did not work, we did get a prompt replacement. The hot tub went to Dry mode and we could not use the showers the a full day as the hot water was used to fill up the hot tub. The lodge next to ours had a all night party, they were loud, ran around outside at 4am and left underwear and bottles of alcohol outside our lodge!
It was a catalogue of problems, on departure the manager knew nothing of our problems. I have had months of calls & email with still no satisfactory response or acknowlegment of our problems!
We did have a good weekend, though felt that was down to the company of girls and not the "luxury Lodge"
