Had a 2-night stay here recently as we got a good offer on Late Rooms. Have previously stayed at the Missoni Hotel, which is a stone's throw away, and in terms of value for money I would stay at the Fraser Suites every time. I was surprised to read the negative comments of other reviewers when I returned, and was really saddened that they had such a bad experience, especially the people who stayed here after their wedding. I'm not sure I would choose this place for a really special occasion, but as a base for a stay in Edinburgh I did really rate it. Our room was very nicely decorated, gorgeous bathroom, comfy bed, large windows, interesting art work on the walls. The rest of the building was clean, nicely furnished and stylish. There were a couple of down sides - our room was absolutely BOILING hot - there was no air con, so we had to open the windows but then we were disturbed by the noise of the street (and the busker with bagpipes - which grated after about 10 minutes!). This was before the really hot weather in late May, so goodness only knows how you'd get on during hotter times. The other down side was our room was not cleaned on our second day. House keeping knocked on when we returned at around 5.30, so we didn't get anything cleaned or replenished that day. They also then knocked at around 9.30 the day we were checking out, which was a bit pointless. Overall, though, we did enjoy our stay here. Didn't eat here, so can't comment on dining experience, although there is a restaurant on the ground floor. I have been a bit put off by the seemingly rather aggressive comments made by the manager in response to a previous post, but judging from my own experience, I did enjoy it here and would definitely consider staying here again. PS I would give this 3.5 stars but as I didn't have the option I've been generous and bumped it up to a 4.

thank you very much for your feedback, it is always great to have detailed reviews from our guests, as they help us improve our services and the overall guest experience.
It was fantastic to read that you value us very highly and please allow me to respond to the comments you made. We are currently looking into airconditioning solutions - this is a very difficult task with a listed building, as we have to work together with several government agencies to ensure everyobdy is happy with the outcome. However, we are now hiring a system for the summer and then try and complete the task during the winter. We have a new Housekeeping Manager started with us a couple weeks ago, so we now offer a proper daily service within 7am and 3pm.
I understand your concerns with regards to other guests' experience, however, I would like to ensure you that we try and contact every one of our guests to resolve any issues they may have.
