We chose this hotel as we have stayed in a variety of Travelodges before and it was good value. It was easy to find and check in staff we pleasant. The initial room we were given was the end room of the corridor on the 3rd floor (320) and had only 2 small windows so was quite dark. Also, it only had a shower and no bath. I popped back to reception to see if I could get a room with a bath and shower (its good to have a choice after all!) and was told only family rooms have a shower over a bath so please be mindful of this if you like a bath and book a family room. However, they did have a spare disabled room on the lower ground floor at the back of the building so we took that with no problems at all. This room was much bigger and brighter too. Although we did now have a shower and bath, the shower was a 'attachment style' and the hose got in the way and the head kept wanting to spray towards the wall which made for a fustrating shower!! Anyway, the room was clean and comfortable, typical travelodge. Our stay was good, the bar was fine and on the last morning we had the 'All you can eat' breakfast for £7.50 which was ok - range of hot food, cereals, fruit, bread etc, fine quality but not exceptional. The staff were helpful throughout the stay and we will probably stay here again on further trips.

“Extremely Impolite Staff!!”

My boyfriend and I arrived at this hostel only to find that we had been separated into female and male dormitories. We had clearly booked a single room and it was their error, which they admitted. They were INCREDIBLY unhelpful and kept rolling their eyes at me. I had to be very persistent to get the room I had already paid for. There are 7 or 8 of them at the desk at any given time, and they aren't even doing anything. Just laughing at you. I do NOT recommend this hostel.

Fantastic Location practically on the royal mile just 20 seconds walk and your there! Hotel was very clean nice rooms good size, comfortable bed, nice en-suite with power shower, food quite good and the breakfast excellent value all you can eat buffet for 7.50 good selection of cereals and hot food items.
The only down side was the noise from the streets at night, in fact all night even though we had a room to the rear it was still bad. The rooms were also too hot even though the heater in the room was off!!! Plus the cleaners were vacuming the hallways outside our room at 9am one morning so didn get a lot of sleep!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! However I would stay here again as the location is excellent and the accomodation clean and comfortable!

We stayed here for two nights in January. Finding the hotel was not too difficult and we easily found a parking space at the back. However we made the mistake of not realising it was a private car park (and not run by the hotel) so attracted a fine which didn't leave us feeling too happy . There was a small sign in reception but we only noticed this later. This hotel is in a great location and we were allocated a room on the ground floor aand facing two streets. A short walk from the Royal Mile and the other attractions. We didn't notice the noise mentioned in previous reviews. We were there on a Friday night so did notice the 'bucks' and 'hens' nights. The bar in the hotel was great and the cafe reasonably well priced and decent meals. We were rather ill on our second night and the staff prepared a tray of soup for us to take back to the room. We found the rooms better than expected, clean and well maintained. Booking many months in advance we got the rooms for 19 pounds so for that price no complaints. Good place to stay if you are on a budget !

“Good value, great location”

Travelodge Edinburgh Central

The hotel is fairly basic but very good value. The location is very good. In a side street just off the Royal Mile. As other reviewers have said, road noise at the front is quite bad - when I stayed there was traffic all night, drunks passing by and car alarms going all night. The room was reasonably sized and the bed comfortable. The bathroom looked a bit tired. The room generally needed a bit of maintainance. Breakfast was good value if you pay per adult and kids eat free.

A decent budget hotel - great value if you get cheap interent deals. Not for anyone looking for luxury.
