This place is not going to break any culinary boundaries but that is the whole point, it does good traditional dishes at extremely reasonable prices. So many restaurants come and go trying to provide fancy mixed up food and have no real identity but not this place. It has clearly set out to provide quality traditional dishes that are well cooked and taste delicious and not charge the earth for them.
The surroundings are snug and well appointed and make you feel like you are somewhere altogether more exclusive. The service was also attentive and friendly. £12 for two courses or £15 for three is amazing value and everyone would find something they like on the menu.
Were I able to award 4.5 starts this would be where I would put Shandon Belles as the Black Sheep Bistro would just pip it (only just) but as it deserves more than 4 starts it has to be five. Go there, you will like it!
