“Goog reasonably priced friendly hotel”

Best Western Glasgow Pond Hotel

25 Mar 2008

This is the second time we have stayed at this hotel. It is pleasant, clean and convenient, (but not centrally located) close to the west end for all museums and plenty of restaurants can be had on nearby Byers Road. A very agreeable Indian Restaurant can be found on Church Road.
Free parking with plenty of space is available. Nicely refurbished tastefully decorated and warm bedrooms. Breakfast was fine, but the coffee was from a machine - but it was good machine coffee, just a bit of a wait/queue. The hotel staff is friendly and helpful.

Our second stay at the hotel didn't disappoint. The hotel offers clean and comfortable accommodation, a very good breakfast buffet and good value for money.
Liked - flat screen TV in the bedroom, good power shower (though bath and shower compact !), breakfast buffet
Would like the bar to stay open a little later in the evening - say 12.00 midnight as opposed to 11.00pm

Pleasant, clean and convenient hotel which provided everything we needed. Nicely refurbished bar and lobby area, bedrooms similarly tastefully decorated and warm. Free parking with plenty of space and free Wi-Fi in all areas.
Close to west end for all museums and plenty of restaurants on nearby Byers Road.
It won't be the best hotel you stay in, there is a little ambient noise in the rooms but it is all you need when staying in an alive and buzzing place like Glasgow.

Work booked me in here and as others have said, it is nothing to look at on the outside. I dithered between giving this a four or a five, but then felt generous because:
* the receptionist was friendly and welcoming and allocated me a quiet room on the third floor.
* I had arrived late and was tired. The room was fresh and very clean, and room service was prompt efficient and tasty food.
* The room was not too hot or too cold.
* The bathroom was very white and clean (small minus for no radiator and less then fluffy towels, but excellent shower)
* Breakfast was fine, although no one offered me toast and the coffee was from a machine - but it was good machine coffee
* The refurbishments mean that the rooms are very nice and so is the downstairs bar area.
* Did not view the pond as it was too dark, wet and windy!
* Reception checked me out well, and hassled my late taxi for me.

So, all in all, a very good experience.

I stayed there with my partner a week-end in December. The corridors looked a bit grubby with a dirty stained carpet. But the room was clean. I liked the bathroom which had a nice white bath tub. We had dinner at the restaurant one evening and didn't enjoy it much, the food was below average.
Overall the hotel was fine but I probably wouldn't stay there again as it is a bit far from the center (although there are buses to the center).
