“Fantastic experience”

Sherbrooke Castle

This is an excellent hotel to stay in and would definitely be my first choice of hotel if visiting Glasgow again.

Our room was huge with a king size bed, seating area, LCD TV, large closet which held the iron and ironing board and tea making facilities, desk. The bathroom was bigger than some hotel rooms I have stayed in before.

The staff were friendly and could not do enough to help us and answer our questions.

All in all a very pleasent experience that I would like to repeat some day.

“Best Hotel Experience Ever!!”

Sherbrooke Castle

6 Oct 2007

I recently stayed at the Sherbrooke Castle Hotel, and have yet to have a better hotel experience.

when i arrived i found the staff extremely friendly and helpful. I was then upgraded free of charge to one of their suites which had recently been refurbished and it was absolutely gorgeous! the room was huge, the decor stunning and the bathroom more than i could hope for.

the resaturant- Morrisons, the food was to die for, and the service impecable.

i felt most comfortable and welcomed. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay, and saddened to leave. I would not stay anywhere else, and would highly recommend. The location gorgeous, the staff friendly and professional and the food delicious.

Best hotel experience ever!!

“Sherbrooke, a total waste of money”

This hotel is certainly over-rated. The decor is rather naff, and the bridal suite is not up to much at all. The atmosphere is somewhat stuffy. Felt myself stifled for air. Poor air conditioning, or a clammy heat. Food was passably good though. Waiter service was not bad, too.

The one thing that triggered me is overhearing the staff loudly criticise their own guests in a very derogatory manner. Not very professional, at all.

It is a gorgeous building, however as far as the gnarly staff and the general interior of the rooms go. I would not advise staying there at all.

My husband and I had our wedding at the Sherbrooke Castle hotel, and I must say the service from the staff in the run up to the wedding was outstanding! Our wedding day itself went without a hitch, and the staff could not have been more pleasant or accommodating.

We chose to have one of the new rooms as our bridal suite, and it was excellent, with an extremely large and comfortable bed, good floor space and large and well stocked bathroom. The room was excellent and very comfortable indeed.

However some of our guests were not so lucky. One of our guests had booked a family room and when they were unable to get the room they had booked, were re-directed to the "bungalow annexe" instead. The room there was very shabby and very over-crowded with furniture - which they ended up manoeuvering into the wardrobes to make more floor space!! They had originally booked a room for 3 adults and 2 children, but after some insistence received an additional single room for the children's grandmother to sleep in at no extra cost (they also got a substantial reduction on their room rate because of the inconvenience).

Another guest had been booked in the main castle, but ended up with a "stables annexe" room - which he was actually very pleased with as it was clean and modern and recently refurbished. However, my parents were not so fortunate and ended up in a room (the original "bridal suite" which we had swapped for a larger room!!) where the shower did not work and the bath would not drain. It wasn't really satisfactory, especially for the money being charged for the rooms.

In summary - this is an excellent venue for a wedding or other kind of celebration and the staff will do everything in their power to ensure your day goes smoothly!

The rooms, however, are hit and miss. If you get a new room or one of the refurbished ones, they're great! However the older rooms are expensive, shabby and prone to problems.

My husband and I stayed at the Sherbrooke last September during our 2 week trip to Scotland. It was our favorite place to stay of everywhere. The staff was wonderful, friendly, and very considerate.

The food was excellent and the breakfasts huge. The bed was really comfortable and although the time of year was a bit rainy and chilly, there were extra heaters in the room.

A big bonus is that it is a two minute walk to a train platform and it only takes about 10 minutes to get to Queensstreet Station in downtown Glasgow. If you plan on utlizing the train this is a big bonus. As well the view at the Sherbrooke is beautiful and is situated in a really nice neighbourhood.

I had one day were I was feeling ill, the staff was very solicitous and sent up a huge pot of tea with biscuts and cookies.

My husband and I are planning on returning to Scotland at the end of April and have planned to stay the entire time at the Sherbrooke.

The only negative I can say is that our wakeup call on our last morning did not come in but we were dtill woken up as the sent up a very early breakfast (6:15 am) as we had to catch an early flight.
