We had heard mixed reviews about the hotel, but when we got there the staff were so friendly and helpful, opening the back doors of the hotel for us so we didn't get soaked going from the car park to the front door. They also offered to cook us dinner despite it being past serving time.
We had paid a little extra to stay in the main castle, the rooms were brand new and absolutely fantastic, definitely worth the extra.
As it was New Years eve there was someone there in the small hours to let us in, and they were kind enough to extend the check out time till 12.00.
We thought we had missed breakfast when we went to check out however they had kept the kitchen and dining room open for us and prepared a full breakfast especially for us, which was really unexpected, but very appreciated.
Overall the staff, service and room was excellent. i would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel to anyone.

My family and I have recently stayed at the Sherbrooke Catle Hotel and I was thoroughly impressed by the standard of the rooms, the service, the food and the wonderful staff.

The new bedrooms are better than any Hilton that I have ever stayed in! We ate dinner in Morrisons Restaurant, where the food was most definately 5 star, from the Haggis Parcels, to the Beef Fillet.

I would recommend this hotel to anyone who enjoys luxury!

My Fiance and I were recently due to attend a concert at Hampden Park, Glasgow to see the Rolling Stones.
We booked the Sherbrooke Castle that morning and the receptionist gave me all the details.
Upon arrival, the reception had no recollection of our booking. After 30 minutes of trying to find us alternative accommdation, we were then given a room in the annexe. At £75.00 per night, we were given a pokey little room reminiscent of sheltered housing accommodation.
I feel that I should mention that we were given complimentary drinks due to our problems and that the breakfast was excellent. However, the room standard and initial problems left a poor impression on myself and my partner. There was no Satisfaction with this hotel.

In 2007, all of our rooms were refurbished to the same high standard. At the same time, the hotel has undergone a multi-million pound refurbishment to transform our bar, restaurant and conference facilities

We booked the Sherbrooke castle as guests at a wedding.

I had booked a family room, and 2 other rooms at their reduced wedding guest rate.

3 days before we were due to arrive I received a phonecall from the hotel saying that our room had flooded but we could be offered a room at the same quality in the annexe.

On arrival we were directed to what I can only describe as a 60s bungalow. The rooms were appalling - a fire inspector would have closed the hotel down.

The family room consisted of a double bed coming apart at the sides, a put up bed and a high iron bed right beside an open fireplace with a dodgy looking electric fire in it. It was completely unsafe for children to sleep on. In the middle of all of this was a 3 piece suite so there was no room to walk around the room (or escape in case of a fire).

Another of the bedrooms my party was offered had a bed that lurched violently from side to side when you brushed against it.

We spoke to the management who were reluctant to do anything about it. However, when we brought the duty manager to see the rooms he agreed that he was embarrassed by the quality - they were charging almost the same rate as in the main hotel.

The staff were completely unprofessional - we caught them talking about us over breakfast!

Don't set foot in this hotel - it was a disaster from start to finish.

The wedding was wonderful! In spite of the hotel!

Last Saturday, June 3rd, I was going to see the American supergroup Bon Jovi at Hampden Park, Glasgow. Being a non-driver, I was well-aware that getting back home to Erskine would be a problem -if 42,000 people are leaving the same place at the same time, there will be congestion. So I said, why don't we book into a hotel for the night? Good idea, my friend agreed-the only trouble was that 41,998 people had the same one !

Our tickets were booked at short notice, and every decent hotel in Glasgow City Centre and the South Side was full. I tried the Sherbrooke Castle, Pollokshields, where my late mother used to work. Maybe she asked God for some intervention !
The staff said yes, they could take us, and they had built a small annexe on to the hotel where we could stay for £40.00 per night each.
We arrived for tea last Saturday.

My friend Louise and I enjoyed a lovely bar meal -mushroom soup for both of us, fish and chips for myself and a chicken korma for Louise, followed by tea and ice-cream for both of us, for £36.00. The food was excellent, served by a friendly waiter, Aaron, who brought the drinks to the table for yours truly, who is troubled with a "bad leg" and adhering cheerfully to my request for a mixed platter of ice-cream. On the Sunday morning we enjoyed a delicious breakfast. Checkout time is officially 10.00am, but when I explained that our local cabs could not make it until 12.30, I was told that this was not a problem and we could check out later. We were offered Sunday newspapers and a wake-up call.

These were not required but we appreciated the offer just the same. Toiletries and irons were available if we needed them. A lovely night in a lovely hotel at a great price.

Highly-recommended !
