“Clean and Tidy”

Premier Inn Glasgow City Centre South

23 Jun 2008

What you would expect from Premier Inn really. No frills, but clean and tidy. Staff ok. Stayed 8 nights and my shower was cold a couple of mornings and a bit tempremental. Don't think any of the rooms have baths.

Restaurant is small and gets very busy, you can't put food onto your room bill which is a bit annoying. Doesn't appear to be anywhere else to eat within walking distance apart from the chip shop or there is a Sommerfield supermarket.

At weekends the first floor rooms can be noisy if events are going on at the hotel, but the hotel did let those affected know and offered a move to a higher floor.

Thank you so much for your review. I am glad to hear that you enjoyed your stay with us. I am however upset to hear that you did not have hot water each morning. If you do remember what room you were in and could let me know I would be happy to look into it. Also the pictures you have posted are not of our hotel, looks to me like it is a Marriott.

Regards
Jeff Palmer

This is the 4th time that we have stayed here. We were a little sceptical as to what it would be like as it is the first time we were staying at the hotel since it had been taken over by Premier Inn but we needn't have worried as they have actually improved the hotel.

The rooms have been freshly redecorated with new comfortable beds and flat screen tv's with built in freeview. There are still tea and coffee making facilities as well as a hairdryer and additional pillows should you require them.

The hotel is an ideal base if you are attending an event at Hampden as we were. It is approx a half hour walk.

It is a 5-10 min walk to the city centre so it is an ideal base for those that don't want to be right in the centre and the hotel has the added bonus of a free car park on site.

Many reviews say that you should not walk around the area at night but we have never had any problems. The area where the hotel is tends to be quite quiet late at night.

Breakfast is all you can eat buffet style for £7.95 and the quality is very good.

Staff are friendly and check in/out is very quick.

All in all it was a good stay once again and this will remain our hotel of choice in Glasgow.

“Pleasant stay”

Premier Inn Glasgow City Centre South

14 Jun 2008

Situated at 80 Ballater St, I stayed four nights.I found the room spacious and the bed comfortable.

The room also had a walk in shower,LCD TV and Tea/Coffee making facilities.
Breakfast was superb at a cost of £7.95 for as much as you like.
This was a selection of Sausage(which is fantastic) Eggs,Beans,Tomatoes,Bacon,Mushroom,Scrambled egg.Toast,Croissants,Cereal,fruit.Anyway the list goes on.Hasten to add the day is set up well when you have had Breakfast.

Evening meals in the restaurant were very good value and a good selection.
I recommend the Makhani currry.

The staff were all friendly and efficient.

In particular Paul the duty Manager. He was very Polite and was a great help.

I certainly will be returning to this Very fine establishment.

“not hotel of the year”

Premier Inn Glasgow City Centre South

9 Apr 2008

i stayed in this hotel just before the change over and was utterly shocked at the mismanagement of this business,i complained to the general manager a big imposing woman of middle years about the smell of cigarette smoke in room 101 who replied that i must be imagining it as she runs a tight ship, and since 2005 no ones been allowed to smoke in the rooms below the third floor.

I let that go and went to have the evening meal which was not worth the £19.90 bill which was attached to my room,i was served by a dot cotton look alike that smelled like a cigarette and the pint of lager i ordered should have came with a flake so it was a 99 cone it had such a large head.

I retired to my room where i opened my window and the staff were underneath at the corner smoking and provaricating about me,i in the morning made my feelings clear to the Duty Manager who was a slight but yet imposing man who told me that he would look into it and that i was wasting my time talking to the GM as she was more worried as to where she was going to be relocated to when it will be taken over and he had heard of me but i was not what he expected.

I have stayed in the same room recently and i am glad to say that there is a new general manager and the Nice Duty manager seems to be away and there is a fresher look and feel to the place i did notice the dot cotton look alike is still there but two out of three aint bad.

“Good standard and very clean”

I stayed at the premier Inn for 1 night as I will be going to the Nautical College for 9 months starting August.
The college is just across the road and I plan to rent a flat in the new gorbals area so I wanted to see the area in daylight and dark.
I had no problems and I walked into the city at about 8pm and had no problems.
The hotel is like brand new and for the price I payed the standard was very high and exceptionally clean.
I did not eat there as I wanted to see the area and I had limited time.
The free onsite parking was also a bonus.
