My husband and I stayed at the Marks for 5 nights in May. I was initially worried when I found the deal online because the photos looked so nice and the price seemed too good to be true.
The photos are spot on, the location could not be better and the front desk staff were great. I am surprised to read some of the comments about the beds and the cleanliness of the rooms because our room was large, comfortable and very clean. Our package included a full (not just continental) hot breakfast buffet and the food was great. We also ate in the hotel restaurant one evening and our food was really good that night too.
The only reason I did not give a full 5/5 for this hotel is that the wait staff in the restuarant leave something to be desired. They are very polite and there are plenty of them around. However, there were many mornings when many of us in the dining room were waiting extended periods of time just to get a cup of coffee. When we had dinner, it was a very long time between ordering and actually receiving our food. Other than that, I would stay here again in a heartbeat.
Another plus about the location: there are many very good restaurants within a 5 - 10 minute walk from the hotel. Check out other places to eat on Trip Advisor!
Sights close by: George Square (10min walk) where all the tours leave from and there's a tourist info office, City Chambers, Sauchiehall St is just behind the hotel, Buchannan St (10-15 min walk), Merchants City (15-20 min walk), Tenement House, Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum (20-30min walk), Glasgow Cathedral (just follow Bath St. all the way there about 15 min walk) and so much more!

I'm terribly sorry you felt the waiting staff left a little to be desired, we have recently had a few new recruits and I'll ensure my restaurant manager is monitoring their progress closely.
