“Ecellent City center hotel”

Marks Hotel

9 May 2008

I really enjoyed my stay at Marks hotel. The staff were friendly and helpfull. The room was a decent size clean and bright and well presented.
The bed was comfortable and I loved the fluffy robe. The bath was not the largest but was certainly possible to have a proper bath - too many hotels think that a short shallow bath is acceptable.
Its a great city center location close the shops and a great assortment of restaurants. Glasgow is a very lively city, but even on a saturday night it was not noisy in the room.
I had breakfast in the hotel which was extra but well worth it. well presented nicely cooked local produce friendly and efficient service. Would definetly stay again

Stayed for 2 nights, excellent location in the City Centre. Staff were all very helpful and unexpectedly allowed us to check in at 10am when we turned up to drop off our luggage. Hotel is modern and clean with funky decor.
Breakfast was good quality and quantity particularly Eggs Royale !
Well stocked bar and very reasonably priced for a City Center hotel - can also recommend the neighbouring Manna restaurant
Will definitely stay next time we are in Glasgow

I booked this hotel after reading reviews here and expected a nice hotel with a couple of rough edges. I was pleasantly surprised when we arrived and found a good quality 4 star hotel right smack-bang in the centre of Glasgow with funky "not-chain-hotel" decor and great breakfast.

Our bed was huge, the bathroom was modern and spotless, the plasma tv picked up quite a few channels...overall everything you need for a city-break which didn't cost the earth.

Would reccommend this hotel to anyone!

“Posh Travel Lodge”

Marks Hotel

27 Apr 2008

This place is a little over hyped. Its ok. The bar and breakfast areas are ok. However the rooms are not a lot better than a posh travel lodge. It all feels slightly cheap. It looks nice but can see it looking worn soon. The rooms are stuffy and airless and its just not as good as the SAS Radisson.

Its value for money, but nothing exceptional I think. Not great, not bad. Just average.

“Great city - terrible hotel!”

Marks Hotel

I was really disappointed in this hotel. I had chosen it based on the reviews on Tripadvisor, and was surprised to discover it did not even begin to live up to some of the hype that has been posted here. Our first room was small, not very clean and had a window that let in no daylight at all as the buildings all around it were so tall. These factors coupled with the over bearing nature of the decor made the room seem terribly claustrophobic. After our first night we asked to change rooms and to be fair to the staff this request was dealt with promptly and efficiently. The second room was more spacious and had a big window but was very dirty! The window and its frame had not been cleaned in some time and were covered in the cigarette ash of a previous guest which had not been wiped away. To make matters worse this room 302 had a terrible smell which can only be descibed as coming from sewage pipes. This hotel claims to be a 4* and all I can say is that the prices are the only thing that's 4* about this place! No one likes to part with this much money and be able to see the dirt left by a previous guest and that would not happen in a 4* hotel. All in all our experience here was terrible and I will not be going back
