“Steve and Emma's great place to stay”

Alamo Guest House

Perfectly situated in Glasgow with great access to public transport, local eateries and parks, the Alamo is clean, comfortable and creatively refurbushed. Just what you want for a laid back stay. Steve and Emma are friendly hosts and good coversationalists - there when you need them for good advice about restaurants etc but never overbearing. They gave us a fantastic base to discover a fantastic city.

“A little gem ....”

A little gem in the guesthouse world, I would have no hesitation in recommending this accommodation. I had a single room, which was spacious and clean, and my host's were chilled and very welcoming. Nice touches like quality teas & biscuits in the room, great décor and a charming cat !

A warm welcome from Steve was the start of a great stay in Glasgow. The Alamo is a wonderful place to stay, fantastically decorated and comfortable rooms and hosts that can't do enough for you. There are some excellent places to eat and drink within walking distance and Steve can tell you where they all are. We were lucky enough to visit just after Burns Night and Steve even laid on a whisky tasting for guests! We wish there was an Alamo in every city!

What a gem of a place. I'm normally a little wary of booking places blind over the web but neccessity forced me to do so this time, and it's fair to say that The Alamo has restored my faith completely.
The setting is fantastic, overlooking the Kelvingrove museu and the beautiful university.
The accommodation itself is immaculate, get room 3 if you possibly can. The rooms are spacious and more than comfortable and are provided with a television and dvd player-the owner, Steven, has an impressive dvd collection for you to choose from-and as for the bathroom, I was nearly late for breakfast because i didn't want to get out of the shower.
Breakfast itself was great. I had phoned ahead to enquire as to the option of a full english but this is not a given option, but this was really not a problem as the complimentary breakfast was more than adequate and the view from the dining room fantastic.
All in all then, the owners have created a friendly, comfortable and very reasonably priced guest house in the best possible part of Glasgow. I'm very much looking forward to going back.

“Fabulous place with a fabulous warm welcome”

Alamo Guest House

My Wife and I stayed at the Alamo both at the start and at the end of our 'West Highland Way' walk in June - July 2007. We had flown up to Glasgow and had been victims of the terrorist attack on the airport. We arrived with no baggage (still at the airport) a little shocked and weary. Steve gave us a very warm welcome, was calming and considerate. He allowed us to use both the phones and internet to keep abreast of the situation. Eventually we retrieved our cases and continued our journey.

The Alamo is an amazing place which has lovingly been restored to it's former glory mainly by Steve himself. The rooms are warm and cosy and decorated in keeping with the period of the hotel. The whole place has a feeling of 'quality'. The location in the West End is close to many good restaurants with a pleasant stroll through the park opposite. The hotel is in a quiet location with no noisy traffic or distractions. An ideal place to spend a few days ...or longer....in Glasgow. Recommend to anyone!!!
