“Quirky little Guest House”

Amadeus Guest House

2 Jul 2008

This was a real quirky little guest house. We stayed here for two nights and were given room one downstairs next to the kitchen, which was a little noisy, but it didnt bother us. The room was bright, clean and quite large, with a bath and shower.
The location is perfect. You can walk into Glasgow, but the subway stops at the top of the road, were you can get all over the city for £1.10. There is parking outside, so its all good.

The owners were really friendly and helpful, giving us lots of info.
The breakfast was continental, which suited us, but they do play jazz throughout!!

£58 per night, not bad at all.

“It's OK.”

Amadeus Guest House

22 Jun 2008

It's an OK place to stay for the price. The room was clean and had a bathroom en-suite which was useful for us as we were travelling with a baby. Our room was downstairs so it was easy to get in and out and they set up a cot for us. In summer it doesn't get dark until 11pm so our son had trouble sleeping as the curtains weren't very heavy.

The breakfast is nice; there are plenty of pastries, cold hams and cereals and yoghurt served in a nice room at the front of the guest house.

The service was adequate. A telephone message from a friend was not passed on. We had a very early check out and the taxi I thought I had requested did not appear and the takeaway breakfast also did not appear.

“Nice location”

Nice location that is not too far from the city centre but quiet. The rooms aren't as nice as they look on the website, but decent.

“A Nice Stay for a week in Glasgow”

Amadeus Guest House

Chicago, IL

My fiancee and I stayed at the Amadeus Guest House for 6 nights and had a pleasant time. We stayed in a double ensuite. The room was very clean and furniture new. Shower and toilet were clean.

The continental buffett breakfast is good. They had deli meats, cheese, cereal, oatmeal, toast, croissants and scones.

The bed & breakfast is right off Great Western Road. The subway is right across the street. That takes you to the main City Centre, where we actually took the train from Queen Street Station to Edinburgh for a day trip.

Transportation is fairly easy to get to around the Amadeus Guest House.

The staff is very very friendly and helpful especially when we had questions. They were kind enough to give us an alarm clock so we could wake up for our early flight. They were also kind enough to fetch a cab for us in the morning, which was at a fixed price of 18.50 pounds.

Only one minor thing.. The bed did make quite the noise and the floors are a bit creaky. You can hear footsteps above you but overall I would recommend staying there than a hotel. I thought the price was good for a week stay, especially with the dollar being so weak.

“You get what you pay for”

I had a struggle to find anywhere in Glasgow’s West End that met my organisation’s budget (I work for a charity) and the Amadeus Guest House was the only place. I was slightly concerned as the price was so cheap. You do get what you pay for here. The rooms are basic with some nice soft furnishings, but a closer look reveals some pretty shoddy DIY. Breakfasts are a Continental style buffet, which was fine. If you like real coffee, avoid it, it’s the worst I’ve had for a long while.
