“Not value for money!”

Glenmoriston Town House

We stayed here for one night, the only room they had available was the deluxe double with a riverside view. The hotel website gives the impression it is a boutique, contemporary hotel. Our room was not decorated in this way, we found it out of date, with a very small bed. The room felt cluttered with an old fashioned TV and CD player and ironing board out in the room.

In fairness the bathroom was huge with a seperate bath and shower cubicle and plenty of space. It was also modern in decore.

For £160 per night we felt that the bedroom should have been better quality.

We found the breakfast average, with the service beng very slow, and the bread for toast poor quality. Check out was slow.

The evening before we had eaten in Abstract the restaurant in the hotel. I found the food and service absolutely excellent, although my other half wasn't keen on his main course (he picked the wrong thing for him!) and I would definitely eat there again. However we would not stay at the hotel again, definitely not value for money.

I found this hotel to be an very comfortable place to spend the night. While the room was a little small (not smaller than I expected), the bath was very nice with an excellent shower. The bed was great- I had a terrific night's sleep. The staff was friendly and helpful and the breakfast was quite nice. Excellent location on the River Ness- could walk to all points in the center yet they had plenty of parking (if anything, the car park was a little too big). Based on what others have said here, it seems the rooms vary a bit in quality. I liked mine fine!

“Lovely Hotel”

Glenmoriston Town House

28 Mar 2008

We visited this hotel for a 2 night stay which included a Valentine's Day treat, the hotel has 2 separate buildings, we were located in the building which hosts Contrast Restaurant. The location of this hotel is ideal being situated on the banks of the River Ness and only a 5 minute walk to the town centre. The decor in the room was very modern and well presented. The room was very clean, comfortable bed and well equipped with 2 chairs, table, tv, dvd, etc but this made the room feel very cramped. Our room was situated at the back of the hotel directly above the kitchen for Contrast Restaurant, there was an outside freezer which meant the kitchen staff were constantly in and out all night which led to constant banging of doors up until about 10/10.30 pm. The piano bar was very relaxing. All of this aside we had a very enjoyable stay and would most definitely return to this hotel but to another room this time !!!

“Check your room first”

We stayed at the Glenmoriston for four nights in September on a golf holiday to the highlands. There were four couples in our group and we had varied rooms. Two couples upgraded to riverviews, for extra charge, and were given two very nice appointed updated rooms but they were very very small(under the eaves with one queen size bed). The other two couples were given two first floor rooms without a view which were larger with king size beds, no extra charge. Go figure. We were told that the rooms in the main part of the hotel were larger but not updated. When this hotel gets all rooms updated, it might be worth the price paid. But I have to say that the bed was the best in Scotland.
The restaurant in the annex was delightful for both breakfast and dinner. The staff was great except for the head waiter who definitely had a problem. In fact the rest of the staff was so good that we tipped several of them extra.
The location was within walking distance of the town with shopping, restaurants, and night spots.

“Overpriced with terrible service, though Abstract Restaurant is good”

This hotel is trying to be a small luxury hotel, though rooms are too cramped overpriced and missing vital items to be considered luxury. The hotel is also very noisy with too many rooms in an old house.

Staff are comically rude at times and the smallest request takes ages to be dealt with.

Food in Abstract restaurant is excellent but again marred by dreadful staff and it's London prices.
